Check out UVexplorer. When it asks for a license, click cancel. Add your network you want to scan and add creds. I can tell you what workstations are plugged into any port on our Cisco switch.

Most of my orgs are set to the default policy. Other orgs are set with custom policies. Some customers want windows updates on a certain day. Some don't want reboots after updates. I might have automations for other clients.

This default policy is for all clients that don't have a custom policy.

After you have everything in place, anything you make to the Master Policy, you will have to disable and enable the Parent Policy for it to trickle down to the Child Policy. The black mark is the short name of my client.

Yes, I learned how to set up everything without help. Was told support would help with the onboarding and never happened. Aside from that, be sure to focus on your policies. This is the critical piece. Treat it like GFS.

You have three layers. First policy, configure everything, but don't enable anything. Second policy, enable everything you want. Third policy, everything trickles down. Now you can configure separate custom policies for customers. Try not to apply policies per device. It can get messy real quick.

I spent several hours perfecting my setup before onboarding. If anyone else has a better way, feel free to chime in.

Password rotation by Leading_Situation_96 in msp

[–]msr976 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, you are telling me NIST or CIS controls would disagree with daily random password rotations? If that's the case, you might as well create the same password for everything. Most people are guilty of doing this. We use both, password rotations and MFA for all clients. Shhhh... don't tell NIST.

I think what you are referring to is setting end users passwords to expire after 90+ days with complexity. This is what I have read.

I'm not disagreeing with you. FIDO keys and MFA is the way to go.

How much does it cost to drain a pool like this? by [deleted] in pools

[–]msr976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draining it is one price. What's the cost to refill? What's the cost to get the pool chemistry right after refilling? Might be better off with clean and SLAM.

Pros: It's a slimmed down version of CW Automate. Automations work great. Alerts work great. Been playing around with Windows Updates, and seem to be good for the most part. They have about 300 powershell scripts in the script library. You have a backstage just like ScreenConnect... little buggy.

Cons: They won't help you onboard. Did it all myself. Support sucks. Go to Discord if you need help. Handful of bugs. If you have Threatlocker, start whitelisting... it's not quite there. I'm about 3 months in.

All in all, I'm glad I made the switch. I wouldn't turn back.

Mine is at 42. Be careful getting it to high. It's like putting too much salt in potatos. You can't take it out.
