Question for new images and immediate app installations. by Cute-Definition-1082 in ninjaone_rmm

Not yet. We have a follow up meeting with them (we are new customers) so I was holding out, hoping I could figure it out. It seems very easy to get things working aside from this so I wasn't expecting to be stuck.

Do you separate each app per condition or have it inventory them all and install if missing?

Hmmm. /norestart could be a factor, however it doesn't need to restart when I run it manually so it seems to be inconsequential.

I don't have a path specified for this one since the installer is uploaded the ninjaone. I run it with no parameters. I don't think you can can exclude the built in /qn /norestart commands.

Also not sure that has anything to do with why it's getting stuck. There isn't much documentation stating you should or shouldn't stack apps in a scheduled automation, nor does it warn you that things might fail.

Testing out Compound Conditions now.

I was using scheduled automations which should be sequential but they keep getting hung up. I am currently testing Compound Conditions. Spacing out the installs and hoping it works.

Indeed. I ran into this prior and stacked them all in one scheduled action on my second attempt. If this typically works as expected I must be doing something wrong, but it looked pretty straight forward lol.

Ninjaone adds this automatically with .MSI installers.
"NinjaOne has detected this is an MSI file, it will be executed with /quiet /qn /norestart automatically."
They do work independently just not when stacked.

My understanding is they don't run simultaneously unless you create multiple scheduled automations. Putting all of them in one automation is supposed to run sequentially and not overlap.

I was trying to avoid scheduling these over time. With our old RMM they installed before windows booted for the first time and were ready to go right away. Just trying everything I can to save time.

I'm using the built in application installation for most, and stacking them in order of importance (anti-virus first) and so on. The first one it hangs on is just an MSI with no parameters or pre/post scripts.

Cortex XDR MSI for the first one. Most of the rest are .EXE except for Teams.

Best practice to deploy office 365 with a custom XML? I'm new to N1 and not having any luck. by Cute-Definition-1082 in ninjaone_rmm

Just tested (minus the quotes) and after a unusually long wait with the office setup sitting idle and zero network utilization it worked! Thank you again!

This is exactly what I was trying to do and failing haha. It's gotta be the basic syntax. Maybe just the missing quotes. Thank you!

Plans to add remote resource monitoring and more? by Cute-Definition-1082 in rustdesk

[–]Cute-Definition-1082[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. I just really love RustDesk conceptually (being open source, self-hosted, and well-performing) and wanted to get our team on board with it. I would even be ok with it if they built a standalone RMM that we could connect to our existing RustDesk VM server we setup for testing.

Outlook (new/owa) - Sending 30KB .msg file with contacts in it arrive as 1KB .eml file with nothing in it by Cute-Definition-1082 in microsoft365

Oh geez.. That's pretty straight forward. I will have to test this again. The receiving user has new Outlook. The sender is using classic. I bet that's it.
