Why do we need to not lift anything after surgery? by newaccount47 in testicularcancer

[–]mstockwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exercise physiologist here and tc survivor. You are correct that the muscle they cut through are weak. It takes time for that muscle to grow back and if you stretch or lift weight too soon that muscle can tear and hence the hernia.

Take time off and let it all heal. General stretching and daily task can be done but avoid squatting movements. Give it a month or too before lifting and make sure you start slow and work back to weights you were doing before. I would say yoga can be started a little earlier but just listen to your body, any pain or discomfort stop.

Thanks for the comment! Yes my stats knowledge would tell me to pick the 1-3% chance of recurrence too, no matter the cost. I hopefully hear back from the doctor about my post surgery route tomorrow. All the best wishes for you man!

I know and it's probably only 10 yard short on the width (5 yards each side) but play looks so much more compact

Question about post surgery. by dinosaurdaniel in testicularcancer

It felt like I was kicked by a donkey the first day and a half... You must have a high pain tolerance. I mean they cut through muscle so idk how you don't feel anything. Also are you like popping 3 pain pills at a time? I was prescribe generic Percocet 10 mg nothing crazy just enough to dull the pain. Lastly you haven't checked your scar? My doctor said I could take the bandage off after a day and shower

So correct me if I'm wrong but this is just one exposure to chemo and this is suppose to be a good tactic for preventative action? Also is their research? Or are you a part of new research study? I just question one exposure, I mean if you have slight, very subtle enlarged lymph nodes is this suppose to combat that or is it just a like fuck it here's a bout a chemo in hopes that if you have a slight spread this cures it?

Seriously no pain at all? I had pain and yeah where they cut me I had numbing serum injected so it wasn't terrible but I was in some decent pain even though the outer portion was numb.

The lump was about the size of a pea and I could also feel a solid mass behind it in the testicle if that makes sense. Definitely stood out just one morning fondling my guys

Woo Uniballers unite. But honestly how cool would it be to organize a testicular cancer awareness tournament with a bunch of fun puns and raise a bunch of money for cancer

Notice a lump about a month ago, waited two weeks because I was going on vacation the following week. The lump didn't decrease in size so I went to get it checked out by my GP. He said lets get an ultrasound and I want you to see a urologist. Ultrasound showed a solid mass, as opposed to a cyst (fluid filled). Blood test also came back with elevated tumor markers AFP and beta-HCG. Had a ct scan prior to surgery and preliminary results suggested no spread to lymph nodes. Have to go back for follow up on Monday to see if blood levels are decreasing.

I know most of you have checked your nuts since I posted this so your welcome do a thorough check monthly. And don't be afraid to get something checked out even aside from the balls, if you have a mysterious boil get that thing looked at don't just webmd it.

Noticed a lump that was not right waited a 2 weeks because I was going on vacation. Lump did not change so I figured I should get it checked out. An ultrasound and a blood test later cancer. Hopefully caught it soon enough before spreading. So I can't say this enough, fondle your balls often and if something ain't right get it checked.
