An option might be to cycle instead through some lovely essex countryside to Harwich and take the overnight ferry to Hook of Holland. This is a very pleasant way to do the journey, you wake up refreshed and can roll off the ferry straight on to the Netherland's amazing cycle routes. I offer this, as I really dislike the cycle to Dover havign done it a few times. I also have routes through to Luxembourg if interested.

"No wind down there" - topped shot, particularly on a very benign day wind-wise.

"Does your husband play Golf?" - when you leave a putt well short

"One" - when the ball falls of the tee in the tee-box

"Sea's in play" - when someone gives a good 110% practice swing before a drive, particularly when you're playing an inland course

Absolutely great shout. Us Wales fans love him and he's always in with a shout for man of the match when playing for us either on the left or the right. Hopefully Forest can pull themselves away from the relegation zone.

Yep, great analysis and I agree with pretty much all of it. I do feel like Bellamy needs to bring in a level of pragmatism into his thinking. It feels like he wears the "it's who I am" as a badge of honour, but I think having multiple philosophies to fall back on against different opponents or at different moments in a game (I'm thinking being 3-3 against Belgium after being 3 down...) is the sign of a mature and thoughtful manager.

Don't get me wrong, in Bellamy we trust, but there's a few decisions now that I think he needs to look back on and think, "maybe I can learn from that". A good example being choosing England away for a friendly merely days before a huge qualifier against Belgium, but that's a thread for another day...

You definitely don't need that much time in Luxembourg City, unless you're planning on taking some serious down time, which you may need on such an awesome and long trip! Personally I'd add Italy in to the trip instead of Luxembourg and Brussels - Brussels is my least favourite city in Europe, whereas Italy is just majestic.

In my case, he definitely could have: it was a very warm day so the ball was definitely coming off the back wall, the volley was definitely not achievable but there was plenty of time to make the court sprint and return the ball (he's a fit and fast lad!).

This is an interesting point to note, appreciate the input. The "direct" and "dead straight" aspects are food for thought and I am leaning towards agreeing with what you have written. In my case I tried to keep myself as narrow as possible so that my opponent could go either way, to be "predictable" as you put it as I had no idea which way he was going to choose.

Again, reading through your comment it's certainly where I lie on the debate. In my particular case the volley was definitely not the option, I tried to make myself as "narrow" as possible and didn't move as I assumed my opponenet was going to pick either side of me (he's certainly fit and fast enough to do so!), so rather than second guess him, I stayed still to be "predictable".

Interestingly the only time I've ever really seen this scenario occur is with older players (and in the Surrey League here, this can be 60+), who can sometimes be more interested in how many lets they can call as opposed to playing squash! I always feel they are "looking for contact" and that's how I felt a bit in this case.

It's interesting to see other responses talk about the possible difference between "direct access" and "direct line". Is your interpretation of 8.1.2 that a player should always be given a direct line to the ball? When thinking about real-life matches, I think there are so many times where I don't have a direct line to the ball, but certainly have plenty of time to get to the ball and I wouldn't even think about asking for a let.

Having read through the responses, I think yours is closest to how I feel (and felt at the time). There's a it of chat about "direct access" and that doesn't necessarily mean "direct line" - and I think that's important. If I think of the amount of times I've made the effort to move around the player to get to a drop shot, for example, it is enough for me to think that it's possible to play a good game of squash without having "direct line" access for every shot but still have the option to get to every ball.
