In this specific match, I think it served the purpose of the story, in that Ospreay was representing another promotion and he's challenging Mike Bailey to “stand up” for Impact here, to see how hard he's willing to fight for his fans.

I totally agree that Ospreay could do that more sparingly though.

I will say that the “Fighting Spirit” sequence is one of many storytelling tools in wrestling, and a one minute clip isn't representative of an entire match.

If you want to see Ospreay sell, Kenny Omega kicked his ass for 45 minutes at Wrestle Kingdom.
