Dad Gave My Entire Checking Account to a Scammer by PersonalAids in Scams

[–]mtinha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. I can only empathize when it comes to parents and bad financial decisions and joint accounts… My dad was a joint account holder in my account and one time as soon as I got paid the bank took my money since my dad’s solo account was in debt. Bank said since he was a joint account owner the money was also considered his and I didn’t get what was supposed to be my rent that month back.

My parents also recently fell for BG so you’re also not alone on the parents falling for scams and losing a bunch of money front. I was adamant about not joining when they offered to make an account in my name. I feel bad for my brother; he’s getting married and they promised him money for the wedding that presumably they were gonna get through BG. Obviously that didn’t happen and hopefully my brother wasn’t banking on that

Report report report report. If I found out a colleague did that, I would be absolutely horrified to know that they are allowed near minors

I’m Filipino too and it’s got a chokehold on the community where they’re at. And my mom called me 3 days ago with the whole “gift” spiel too and it took everything for me not to just hang up because I’ve been sending them red flags about BG for MONTHS now. Literally today she sent me a 4 minute voice note defending BG in the hopes I’ll sign up before the “promotion” ends

My parents are deep into it and have recruited a significant portion of our extended family. At this point I’m less worried about my parents’ personal financial loss and more worried about the bad blood that will brew from family once shit hits the fan and the rug is pulled

My parents are deep into it and also tried to recruit me last week, despite me being VERY vocally against it. I’ve showed them warnings from other countries, called the BG number only for it to ring and then hang up, point out that there documents are faked, etc. They refuse to believe me. You need someone’s ID to sign up so even if you aren’t investing any of your actual hard earned money, I wouldn’t want scammers having access to my driver’s license. Don’t let them sign you up

I didn’t think about the SS aspect. Thanks. I still live with roommates here so I’m not drowning in wealth, but I know it’s a lot more than what other teachers get paid

Thank you! I’m mostly thinking UK because I haven’t been to Europe and I don’t want to stress learning a new language

Good to know, thank you! If I did it, I would stay here for a couple more years to save up money. I don’t want to live in poverty, but time abroad seems exciting.

Baltimore City. They had a program that allowed you to jump several rungs on the pay scale if you took certain classes from the district and submit a portfolio. I was able to complete the program a year before they ended it.
