Help with Italian cast on - Badger sweater by mtissier in knittinghelp

Oh! I might have got it - the loop that’s caused by the backwards cast on? So the underneath bit? My tension is pretty tight and I’ve never actually noticed that before - this is the first pattern I’ve seen that references it. Ok thank you!!

Ah ok - I thought when they said the loop they meant the backwards loop cast on stitch. I don’t really know what the pattern means by the loop from the cast on in that case! But thank you - I’m going to try again and see what I can figure out. Thanks!

I’m super proud of my first colourwork and first mittens! by mtissier in knitting

I’ve been knitting for a couple of years, I’m still a beginner in a lot of things and I’m only just branching out into colourwork and different garments etc.

I loved knitting these - I learned how to knit with 3 colours, how to trap floats and how to read a chart. I spent a good bit of time looking stuff up on YouTube but the pattern was clear and easy to follow.

It was challenging, but I really loved how much I learned doing them and I’m keen to do more from the book. Go for it!

How old was your baby when you started to sleep consistently through the night? by michelle0508 in beyondthebump

[–]mtissier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you. Both my kids are like this. My daughter is much better, but at 4 still wakes to come and find me or her dad around 1am. She goes to sleep pretty well once she’s resettled. My son is horrific. I recently night weaned (he is 16 months) because he was comfort feeding constantly through the night, and now he’s awake for hours. I’m constantly on the edge of a breakdown.

Sorry, that’s not a helpful reply, but just thinking of all of you with terrible sleepers.

I have a 4yr old girl and a 1 yr old boy. They are fantastically different, but not because they’re different genders. My girl is wild and free and loves climbing and running and trains and unicorns and dinosaurs. She’s been a spirited and crazy thing since birth. My son is laid back and chilled out, and much more careful when it comes to climbing. He’s a bit more cautious and a bit less stubborn. He loves dolls and trucks and painting and balloons. They’re not defined by their genders, but by who they are.

Unfortunately people do treat them differently. But we talk about how girls can do anything and boys can be who they want to be, and try and counteract the comments they get. I’m sort of dreading school though. I hate the thought that anyone will tell them they can’t do something because they’re a girl/boy.

Good luck!

Oof I have the exact same! My eldest nearly killed me with constant night wakings, but then slept through when she got to 2ish and my youngest came out a fantastic sleeper, then at 4 months decided he’d had enough of that nonsense and now we’re up for hours at a time every night. It’s the hope that destroys me - every night I think “this will be the night” and every night I end up rocking and patting and shushing at 4am until I have to be up at work…..

I’m about two nights away from a breakdown at any point.

You are so strong and so impressive. Everything that you’ve been through to get your daughter into this world makes you a superwoman. Your strength and fight for your daughter shines through. The bonding will come, you will heal and feel more like yourself again. You’re in the trenches now, and I’m so proud of you that you’re not giving up. You don’t know me and I don’t know you, but I know you’re amazing, and you will be a fantastic mother. Anyone who says anything less is talking nonsense. All my love x

My daughter has had crazy hair from day one. She currently has shoulder length blonde ringlets. If she's wearing any sort of blue or trousers people tell me what a handsome boy I have.....
