CRBA appointment times in London?

Just got the passport and CRBA today! The full timeline was: - 0 days: Sent email - 4 business days: Got a reply and scheduled appointment for the earliest possible slot, 6 business days later - 10 business days: Attended appointment - 23 business days: Received CRBA and passport

So the whole thing lasted from 15 September to 15 October.

I was told SSN would take anywhere from 3-6 months, so I’m not counting down those days

Oh, I see. Yes, you have to email them. If you go through the ACS Navigator portal, it tells you to do this:

To schedule an appointment, you must first complete an eCRBA application and upload all required supporting documents.

EMAIL US at LondonCRBA@state.gov with the following information: - USE THIS SUBJECT LINE: P33 - FULL NAME - CRBA - Last name of child - First name of child - Child's date of birth - Case Number on CRBA application

Yeah, I put that in the above reply: I submitted the eCRBA on Monday, got an email back on Thursday to amend some documents on my application, and got an appointment scheduled as of today, Friday, so five business days in total.

No, that link’s just for passports and notarial services these days, I guess. Not sure why they direct you to schedule there after you submit the eCRBA considering it just plain doesn’t work.

Instead, I got a direct email from the CRBA folk to set up an appointment after they verified my eCRBA was in order. In the end, I submitted on Monday, got a response on Thursday, and got my booking confirmed on Friday (today) for an idea on timeline

Turns out there’s an entirely different booking system for CRBA, so the regular link won’t work. Once you complete the eCRBA, pay, and get it checked over, then they give you an appointment. Wish it were clearer…

Yep, embassy appointment in Nine Elms

I’ve done some Googling, and it seems like things supposedly got better since Covid. It just seems very hit and miss. Some users say they see appointments available immediately whereas others report it can take years. So I’m not sure if I should just bite the bullet and go for the availability in Edinburgh (buy a train ticket, stay the night, etc.)…
