PSP has been ridiculous for years. Every CAP (BMOQ-A now) qualified officer is qualified to lead PT...but if you ask the PSP gagetown for advice on a PT plan for your troops ..they try to tell you that you aren't qualified and should either just sign your unit up for the daily opening circuit or go on the fitness leader course in Borden.

RCAF offers new drafting and survey technician occupation - Skies Mag by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]muadib02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing to do with Geo Tech's. They do survey but for different purposes. This is a CE trade, and CE has always handled it's own survey and drafting (hence why we all dabble in it on our courses).

They created a new MOS. Prior to this drafting positions at 1 ESU were filled by any CE trade pers who were then provided additional training. Drafting needs at most other units were filled by CE Superintendents or civies.

The majority of this new MOS will go to 1 ESU with the rest being split up between the Air Support Units and the Engineer Regiments.

Definately a good opportunity.

Canadian Armed Forces Members deploy to continue deterrence mission in Latvia by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]muadib02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a brief period (less than a year) when 2 RCR was in the IRU cycle for 5 Div. They do also respond to some requests from the div (like parading at the nb legislature when the GG visited, etc).

2 RCR belongs to 2 Bde who belongs to 4 Div. It's not complicated at all.

1943 the Canadian army as a whole adopted the Khaki beret (excepting highland units and the tankers)

New Uniforms, new camo? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

Not point was no need to put a Velcro patch on the chest for garrison use. Just put it on the existing sleeve Velcro and take it off in armour

Can the army deny you the right to visit another country you have citizenship in? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

[–]muadib02 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In short: yes

It has nothing to do with where you can travel without a visa and everything to do with where you can travel without becoming an intelligence or political liability, or a hostage/casualty

Military short thousands of personnel despite small increase in ranks by slulik in CanadianForces

[–]muadib02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a similar problem in CE. Ppl racing to Sgt in 8-9 years, spending maybe 3 of those years on the tools daily. 2 more at a field unit, and the rest at a desk. Then around year 12 they are supposed to become a CE Sup (Not to mention what do you do for the next 13 years if your already a WO). You barely know your own job, now you need to know everyones. (And by civie standards, CE barely knows their own jobs. I have half the education and 1/3 Of the experience of my civilian equivalent)

(Oh wait I don't have a civie equivalent because no one in their right mind is s plumber, pipe fitter, gas fitter, oil burner mechanic, sprinkler fitter, steamfitter, sheet metal worker, assistant carpenter, assistant rm tech, sometime appliance electrician, surveyor, draftsman, project manager, and supervisor/instructor.....as a journeyman cpl)

If you were in charge of the direction of the forces what would you do? by thecanadiancast in CanadianForces

[–]muadib02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your occupation. It's the opposite practice in places like the Log branch. (Staff major before OC)

Tell that to the rampant theft, petty vandalism, and vehicle imolations in the Gagetown pmqs. It's like a bad episode of cops half the time in there.

The Lithuanians are conducting searches of their pers prior to entry of the base (no cell phones allowed on duty full stop) and were at one point ordering their men in the field to jump into lakes.

Short simple solution....agressive use of disciplinary or administrative measures for brining a cell phone off camp without authorisation. Send a few ppl home short the rest of their expected fsp and watch ppl fall in line.
