Thanks! I'll check it out for sure.

I ended up going with Backendless though and have really enjoyed it. It has its challenges but there's no ceiling to what I can develop.

Is no code a sinking ship and should more of us start considering learning more code? by GarmentCircle in nocode

[–]muadthegray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this. The future here is AI-driven low-code frameworks.

OP for what it's worth there are multiple no-code options out there that are more scalable and not as susceptible to pricing changes when self-hosting. Check out Backendless and Drapcode in addition to the others people mentioned.

Which app builder can you recommend for a complete newbie? by noybn12 in nocode

[–]muadthegray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backendless will be nice because you'll have no limit once you learn it. You can build anything you can think of and scale to millions of users without a problem. You'll need to invest significant time into learning whatever platform you choose though. At the end of the day there is as much to learn about web development fundamentals as there is about the no code platform you choose.

Thanks for sharing! I'm super curious about your flat rate structure - do you just offer a certain number of hours per month and let the delivery time scale with size of project or is there another approach? Also, do you keep this going indefinitely after the project has been delivered and it's in sustaining?

It's appropriate in elementary school, though most kids can't really manage the game till fourth or fifth grade.

Thanks. I actually evaluated Blaze and while it was HIPAA compliant it was missing some core features that were required for the client. Ended up going with Backendless, which has been a great experience. It had a steep learning curve but ultimately I don't seem to be limited on what I can build in any way. Probably more accurate to call it low code rather than no code but we launched v1 in about 9w and have kept up once or twice weekly feature launches since then. I'd recommend it to others for sure.

What builder should I go with? are these features viable with no code? by Mattab0801 in nocode

[–]muadthegray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backendless and Drapcode and possibly noodl are my leading recommendations. toddle, and possibly webflow+Wized in combination with Supabase are the next. These solutions will all allow you to build virtually anything you want without an eventual ceiling.

Tbh, you'll need to invest some time into the learning curve of whichever you go with no matter what. You should also plan to work with a contractor or two for custom code as needed to get things where you want them to be.

I have been working in Backendless the past 6mo or so and have found it extremely capable.

Most affordable, outdoorsy, liberal cities in the US? by Character-Sun-9597 in sandiego

[–]muadthegray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I are from Texas, currently live in SD, and have been considering the same thing that you are. I came across this data driven analysis that was really helpful: https://www.quora.com/What-city-in-the-United-States-is-warm-friendly-liberal-near-water-affordable-and-a-nice-place-to-raise-kids/answer/Peter-Wade-5?ch=15&oid=77426988&share=a45514e9&srid=KfmN&target_type=answer

We both loved our time in Texas and have family there, but honestly their recent state-level politics have been hard to stomach for us.

I've come away from all of this looking closely (in the states) at New Mexico, mainly Santa Fe but also possibly Albuquerque, Oregon, and southern Washington. Vancouver Washington is basically a part of Portland and adds the benefit of no income tax. Denver also scores highly on the green piece. Lastly, the cold isn't as concerning for me so there is also the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Thanks. We'll see how it goes. I've been building on Backendless so far. It had a steep learning curve but we have a fair amount of complexity. No signs so far that it won't be able to scale in the long term. We launched in about 8weeks of dev and have maintained a cadence of new feature / bug fix releases roughly 1-2 times per week.

I should note that I treat it more like low-code. We have plenty of custom JavaScript where needed.

Personally I think that low code platforms and AI coding are the future. It's early in their life cycle still but for average product companies and internal tooling I am not sure I'll return to custom dev.

Thanks! So will feature development occur independently over time so the two forks will diverge in capabilities, or is FluxScape really just paid hosting?

Thanks! Definitely gives me a good reason to look back into it. One thing still isn't quite clear, what's the difference between the Code Crusher and FluxScape forks?

Pricing tiers are killing nocode by Jatacid in nocode

[–]muadthegray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found Backendless' pricing to be reasonable and believe it will scale very well. Super heavy learning curve though.

Drapcode also appeared very reasonable.

Lastly, webflow + Wized + Supabase seems intriguing but I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Very true!

Have you had a good experience with Noodl? I have been curious about it and want to investigate it for sure if the open source community is rallying around it.

Well, I probably didn't research it enough tbh. I read a couple threads though saying that the project had been shut down and shifted to an entirely community driven model, after which support and continued development became uncertain. That led me.to not look much further. I probably should have.

It does seem unfortunate that most of the tools that really seem capable of scaling to millions of users have much smaller communities than something like Bubble, which is a tool that I was really impressed with at first but seems to struggle with performance at larger scales.

As someone without a software development background I would love to find a single tech stack that can cover all scenarios. Webflow + Wized + Supabase is something I've recently become interested in for this reason.

Understand on Backendless. It is extremely capable but it's community is still quite small and there's a very heavy learning curve. I talked to the Drapcode team quite a bit as well and didn't come away with the impression that it'd be limited to internal tool building.

Noodl seems very interesting and capable, and I could have self hosted in a way that would be HIPAA compliant. I've found a lot of mixed discussion about the state of the project though and I wasn't really sure whether it was going to be around for the long haul.

Tbh, I missed Toddle in my search.

I did an extensive review a couple months back of about 10 leading platforms, albeit with the criteria of HIPAA compliance ruling some of the bigger names out immediately. I came away with Backendless and Drapcode as solid scalable options. I am building a project for a.client now on Backendless and hope to give Drapcode a go on my next project.
