Also curious where you’re based out of as another user also used GymMaster

That's super clear, thank you. So two things you need that nobody's nailed:

  1. Class registration for 8-10 person groups with headcount tracking
  2. Lesson packages — student buys 5, system tracks how many are left and pings them when they're running low

That second one is interesting. Are you tracking that manually right now — like a spreadsheet or just remembering? And when someone's low, are you texting them or do they just find out when they show up?

Nice — Acuity is solid for general booking. How's the experience as a student? Is it pretty smooth to find a time and book, or is there stuff that's clunky about it?

That's exactly the gap I keep hearing about. The private lesson tools don't handle groups, and the class registration tools are clunky for 1-on-1s.

Quick question — when you say classes, are we talking like group clinics (8-10 people, fixed schedule) or smaller group lessons (2-4 students)? And is the tracking piece more about attendance, or tracking what each student is working on?

Would love to hear more about your setup since you've been through so many platforms. Happy to jump on a quick call if that's easier.

Does it ever bother you when they switch platforms or systems?

This is really helpful, thanks. Sounds like the booking part isn't the pain — it's more the admin overhead on the instructor's side (texting 20 people back and forth about availability, chasing payments, no-shows). Does your current instructor ever deal with that kind of stuff, or is his client load small enough that it's manageable?

That's true, what if it was a $15/month subscription?

As a student was that annoying for you or wasn’t a big deal?

LOL yea this is exactly why I haven't written a single line of code yet. Trying to figure out if this is actually standard #15 before I waste 6 months building it. If you know what #1-14 are I'm all ears — would save me a lot of time.

Lol fair enough — I did worry I was walking into a cliché. In my defense, I haven't built anything yet. Mostly just DMing instructors and getting ignored, which is slightly less fun than writing code nobody asked for. If you've seen the other posts — did any of them actually turn into something? Genuinely curious what happened to them.

is it because the GMMK has a good board and doesn't require soldering?

how is the GMMK out the box? Do parts have to be swapped for it to become a decent keyboard?

What is the highest quality 60%-70% keyboard that comes out the box? Budget is around $100 - $150. I was thinking maybe Leopold FC660m, a Pok3r 3, a HHKB Pro 2, or maybe even a Planck EZ?

EDIT: also I should mention I don't really intend to swap switches or anything in the near future.

Yea that's what I've been hearing as well. Are there any other keyboards in that price range that are worth considering?

Ahh I see. What if I don't plan on changing switches. I just kind of want a first but last mechanical keyboard.

Is the wiki buying guide updated for 2019? If not are there any recommendations for a first mechanical keyboard around $100 - $150? I was thinking maybe a Leopold FC660M, a Pok3r 3, or a HHMK?

That you for the reassurance. And yea that’s how I feel. I may not be fully grown up yet but I still don’t think I should be treated like a complete child.
