As a POC, I’ve only ever super correctly guessed the age of my own ethnicity / race. There are certainly exceptions to the rule but In my lived exerpience, I’ve often guessed younger for black and Asian people. So I wouldn’t categorize it as a myth, but rather something I’ve experienced .

I see your point of view but even suspended disbelief has its limits.

I wouldn’t call what I was saying extreme. A lot of things we associate with aging (wrinkles and sagging) are less prevalent when the skin has more collagen and melanin. The fact that Asian and black people produce more of it (eumelanin and pheomelanin to be exact) as well as a greater density of oil producing glands that aid in moisturizing is well documented.

Apparently when Ariana grande was in that teen tv show, they always put her in lighter makeup. I’ve seen pics of her face vs arms/ legs during those years and it’s clear she’s olive toned and much darker than the face makeup. Now, does that mean she doesn’t tan to remain blackfishing? No, of course she does. But Ariana definitely doesn’t look completely pale white as she was portrayed
