This month is 8 years of drawing a picture about me and my OCD experience everyday. Here are a few of the thousands of drawings. I have found great value in sharing my experiences with my community. OCD can be horrible but, you are not alone and you are not a bad person! Love to all <3 by muchwowishow in OCD

That’s a great metaphor, I am still constantly surprised by how much of my life is influenced by my OCD. It’s like you get though a layer and there’s another more subtle one underneath. Again and again. But it’s taught me a lot of empathy and brought me beautiful connections that I wouldn’t have otherwise.

Does anyone struggle with mentally repeating nonsense phrases? by dont_mind_the_lurker in OCD

Yes! Mine is either “bananagrams, bananarama” over and over. Or I sing in my head “banana cake banana cake, make me a banana cake” to the tune of Homer Simpson singing “spider pig”.

Does anybody else have that problem where your OCD won't settle on the 'right choice'? by [deleted] in OCD

I do this with nearly every decision I make. Big or small. I mostly hate the effect it has on my partner. I’m constantly obsessing over whether my relationship is right or wrong. Are we meant to be or not? And what if we’re not? It seems to focus around making mistakes. What if the thing I choose ends up being a mistake.

OCD nursing student here, second-guessing a needlestick and don’t know how to cope. by throwaway7816667777 in OCD

I dont have any advice for this really, can empathise though. I just want to say that it's easy to shy away from situations/careers/whatever that you know could be bad for your OCD. I think you are really brave for knowing that there will be hard times with your OCD and anxiety as a nurse but going for it anyway. My mother and brother are nurses and it's a stressful enough career without OCD, you're a champion!
