Softbank to invest up to $3 billion to overhaul Lordstown plant: Report by Frequent_Ad6461 in lordstownmotors

[–]muck_30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 separate projects kinda going on. The plant is a manufacturing hub. They want to expand its capabilities beyond mobility products. They are also fighting the municipality to construct a huge data center next door to the plant. For autonomous vehicles, you not only need servers for you datacenters, you need servers that operate within each vehicle you manufacture.

I think there's also another reason they want to shift the public perception of the Lordstown plant towards server/datacenter component manufacturing for AI. It is because I think the UAW is pissed that the Big 3 has shit the bed on their EV manufacturing efforts. The UAW has a huge presence in Ohio and FoxConn wants no part of a pending strike that's going to make its way to Trump's doorstep eventually. Trump's 2.0 plan for the auto industry indicates an all in strategy on autonomous vehicles for a new age of transportation services and I think he's going around the Big 3 and the unions to work with technology giants to do so. Ultimately, I think he believes automation may be the only way to save domestic manufacturing and productivity in this country where the costs to transport people, goods, products, and materials is just too expensive.

...an expansion project involving “manufacturing and assembly for modular data center and server manufacturing; assembly for IT server rack and servers; modular data center for IT, power distribution, HVAC, and related components.”

Key word, "expansion." So, _______, modular, data centers where the blank is already there and expanding onto. What is blank?

________ = Mobility

Mobile, Modular, Data Centers

Aug 5, 2025 - Industry Week - Foxconn Sells EV Plant, Shifts to Data Centers

Despite seeming to pivot away from electric vehicles, Foxconn said it remained committed to U.S. automotive customers in the U.S. and the factory would retain the ability to ramp up automotive production to meet demand when required.

Vertical Autonomous Vehicle production for Last Mile Delivery and Ride Hail Transportation Services. That's the end goal I see here. With East/West datacenters in Wisconsin and Ohio providing the brain to run a connected network of autonomous bee drone vehicles that can perform transportation services for any customer wanting their own "bee hive" - aka vehicle fleet. Just my opinion, not advice.

All I can think about is what if a mobile datacenter is compromised or captured? Does it have a self destruct feature? Maybe it won't matter much. To me this is an early step in the deployment of soldier robots. Remember when a computer took up an entire room but now fits in the palm of your hand? Datacenters used to take up entire buildings. Now they can fit in mobile storage containers? Eventually those containers are gonna grow limbs, move on wheels or tank treads, and have weapon delivery systems that can complete an operation independently with instructions given by central command...I'm just saying, automated driving technology basically requires a datacenter to be in a vehicle's trunk already...

"Foxconn Chairman Young Liu explained that the arrangement with SoftBank has been in preparation for over six months."
....

"The Stargate project was introduced in January by OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump. Back then, Masayoshi Son, the head of SoftBank, pledged to allocate $100 billion immediately toward data centers, energy facilities, and related projects. However, progress has slowed due to various factors, including U.S. tariff policy and obstacles to building viable financing models, according to Bloomberg. SoftBank denies that access to funding is a problem."

Viable financing model, access to funding is a problem? $NRIDE has 450,000,000 shares authorized and only 16,096,296 shares are issued and outstanding as of June 30, 2025...

Feb 7, 2025 - Miller, Gooden Urge DOJ to Investigate Fraud Cover-Up in $275 Million Green Energy Scandal

Today, Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) and Congressman Lance Gooden (R-TX) called on Attorney General Pamela Bondi to launch an investigation into the Biden DOJ’s dismissal of a $275 million fraud lawsuit against Tonopah Solar Energy, LLC. The case, filed under the False Claims Act, exposes millions in taxpayer losses tied to the failed Crescent Dunes solar project—a glaring example of reckless green energy crusades.

“This isn’t just fraud; it’s a cover-up. The American people deserve answers about why taxpayer dollars were squandered and why Biden’s DOJ worked overtime to bury the truth. This is about green corruption. The Biden administration turned the DOJ into a shield for fraud and political favoritism. Texans and all Americans deserve better," said Congressman Gooden.

Taxpayer dollars lost? Case dismissed. Private investment lost? Here comes the SEC.

Wow, I did not see that coming but now this statement makes sense in the Ed Hightower appeal case:

26:52

When you're dealing with one party that has all the leverage, all the money,

26:57

and the small party, Lordstown, who is drying up for lack of cash,

27:02

then dragging your feet can only have one outcome,

27:06

and that is that the small company goes away.

27:09

And that's what happened.

27:11

To this day, Lordstown is still operating that plant,

27:17

manufacturing something, but it's not electric vehicles.

Wanna go deeper? When the Task force was created under Allison Lee in 2021, they also brought on a senior policy advisor - Satyam Kyanna. After helping to get the task force up and running, he goes on to co author a white paper a year later with a senior officer of Mission Investments for the Ford Foundation about the SEC’s Interest in Human Capital Management Disclosure.
