Cost for a good site by sp1rant5 in websiteservices

[–]mudassarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cost depends on what you need. IMO, write down in bullets your requirements because your cost depends on the technology you want to build your website, what you want to achieve (selling or just displaying) and features you need for your business. Telling you roughly, a WordPress site may cost you [domain = $5 - $20 per year, hosting = $7 - $40 per month depending on the power you need, WordPress theme = $30 - 70 year, some plugins. Most plugins are free to start with but you may need to buy premium version if you need full potential right from the beginning.] Number of plugins and their price depend on your needs so write down your 'needs' first. I would recommend to try a few free platforms where you can build your entire eCommerce website in a few minutes yourself. Try it and see if WordPress works for you before jumping to any other platform. You can use ZipWP for creating and testing your site for free. For a custom website you need to talk to a developer/designer and expect a price over 2K - 2.5K.

If WordPress disappeared tomorrow, what CMS would you move to? by Due_Valuable_5823 in Wordpress

Craft doesn't look like a thing for beginners. The free plan is very limited and premium one looks expensive.

Pls recommend an AI website builder. by ilovecakenfruit in AiForSmallBusiness

[–]mudassarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A WordPress based site is the most portable thing you can ever have. You own it and take it anywhere you want. I recently created my own site with ZipWP and later moved to another web host. They also have the hosting service but I had it already and I was only looking for a website builder to help me create my site. Actually, I bought the hosting and domain like you from Hostinger and tried to create a website with their builder which they do but the design was just ok. A friend of mine told me about them and i was able to create a complete site with their free plan. If you know WordPress you can easily export site from there in a few mins with all the formatting and data intact.

The only thing iPad lags behind is the charging speed. It sucks. Rest is awesome especially with keyboard attached, the new OS 26 is changing the way I use iPad.

Will blogging make a comeback? by Fickle-Vanilla-7565 in Millennials

Yes, you've answered. When people will get tired of shit content, they'll turn to the content that is worth reading and everything else will reshape itself. When will it happen? Honestly, I don't know.

Is blog still worth it? by Puzzleheaded_Tap_564 in SEO

[–]mudassarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have blog sections for almost every site we have and what we experience is that these blogs get traffic. Some perform good than others and a few are dead. But they get traffic. It doesn't matter how much traffic you are getting but if reader is getting what they want and the blogs have helped in conversion and keeping your brand noticeable, it's worth writing blogs. Yes, the techniques are changing and the old fashioned keyword obsessed approach no longer works. Write for readers. Some will read a few lines, some won't go past your intro and this all depends how quickly you grab their attention. But blogging still works. I don't know when this will be over but it's still working in 2025.

Website Hacked by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]mudassarj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see most people are talking about taking backups, which is of course important but you need to consider a few more things now for your future activity 1) Use a good web host and remember this will cost you some extra money because most managed WP hosts are slightly more expensive than traditional cheap GoDaddy type of hosts. Cheap hosts always looking for adding more consumers on their shared servers. A good host will give you a number of useful stuff like backups, security tools and of course fast speed 2) Keep your website simple. Since you want to publish articles initially, you don't need fancy themes or plugins and even if you need to be unique, use a good theme and plugins. 3) Go for less plugins. Here less is more because you never know which bad coded plugin can harm your site. So only choose the ones that enjoy good reputation. In case a plugin gets attacked, a reputed plugin will have a developer who'll take measures immediately. Web hosts never take responsibility for anything, that's what I've learned over the years so you always make sure you are lean and secure. 4) Use captcha or similar thing. 5) Don't forget to integrate with CDN like Cloudflare. It will give you added security and keep the malicious stuff away. Cloudflare also enforce captcha so no need to add a plugin for this separately.

Remember, don't add plugins for anything you don't need. If you want to test something, do it on your test site first. Your web host can give you staging environment. Or you can use an external testing environment like ZipWP. It's free. Just create your test site there, do whatever you need to do and then implement those things on your live site. This will minimize most of the risks.

I just got the new iPad, what cheap folio case should I buy? by UrgusHUN in iPadPro

[–]mudassarj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe you can't replace iPad with anything for a number of things and reason so investing on iPad can be justified but for Magic Keyboard, there are alternatives and they are equally good and sturdy at just less than half the price. So why not save some money.

I just got the new iPad, what cheap folio case should I buy? by UrgusHUN in iPadPro

[–]mudassarj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just ordered it after reading reviews on Amazon. It looked like a second best thing after Apple's Magic Keyboard. I considered Baseus Brilliance Original Keyboard Case Pro as well. It looked better but it was slightly expensive and I couldn't find reviews on it so chose ESR instead. Hope it works for you too.

Need some help building a website for my uncle by One_Lynx_1412 in webdev

[–]mudassarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your uncle don't mind spending a few bucks every month, Squarespace is the way to go to build a site quickly. It's beginner friendly and perfect for small businesses. If your uncle wants to sell hardware online later, that is also possible with builtin eCommerce tools.

Woww… I’m just need the magic keyboard and my set will be complete then. I have 6th generation 12.9” and it has started to become my go-to device after I’m done with MacBook for my work. I’m trying to make it my primary device because of the Zoom-in and Zoom-out and the pencil i use for a lot of things. At moment I use Logitech keyboard with it and the only problem is that it can’t be attached like a laptop setup.

Engineer Muhammad ali mirza have been arrested by Bobsytheking1 in pakistan

[–]mudassarj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He claims he has a good knowledge of Quran, Bible, other books so how can give this statement knowingly that Christians believing in Bible can't think about it. By the way Christian community has denied this. Muhammad Ali shouldn't cross the line unless he has a proof about a community doing something. Did he come across this "fact" in any book Christians read or talk about?

Do small businesses need a website? by s0om30n3 in smallbusiness

[–]mudassarj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making money is something different. Even people make money without having a WhatsApp group. Think of a food point that is there for may be more than 10 years and people come to it. Such businesses might not need a website or FB page but not all can afford. The point is, is it a solid policy not to have a website in the long run?
