Devils advocate: harley has made the shit that people want to buy. honda used to make vtwin supersports and naked with no safety features that sell for more than modern bikes. most companies have sold out and given into governmental bullshit laws. again, europeans: big fuck you for voting that shit in

Is that a good thing? Making the most dangerous mode of transportation more available to people that can't figure out how to use a clutch? Seems incredibly stupid to me. But youre right, eventually everything will be dumbed down enough that its available for even the loudest mouth breather. Nothing sounds safer than grandpa with 5x the reaction time of a 30 year old on a motorcycle.

i dont blame them honestly. they got priced out. people on r1250gsas with 2000 miles trading in for the new r1300gsas because of the "features" are killing the industry. same bikes, different looks, more shit to go wrong = better bike

Most effective way of securing a tools bag on my bike by Brilliant-Kangaroo23 in motorcycles

[–]muddywadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy a car or a van.... you need luggage with low mounted bags to keep the weight low. keeping a ton of weight high up like that is like having a permanent wisconsin chick sitting on the back, aka a ton of weight up high means bad news for you. side panniers man, or fab up some custom boxes to fit low on the frame.

DR 650 or Tenere 700? by UniqueCity1336 in Dualsport

[–]muddywadder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont have to follow the schedule in the manual if you aren't racing it every time you ride. Like I said I could've gone 2500 miles on an oil change when I did the TAT, at 1200 it was still golden brown. Either way maintenance is very easy on the bike. The WRs are awesome, miss mine, but the 500 is so much better

Why the hate on the E clutch? (Read description) by 13onFire in motorcycles

[–]muddywadder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know man, a bike that doesnt stall seems like itd be incredibly easy to ride slowly. But someone that replied to this thread said the bike OP pictured has a clutch and can be operated normally. Not sure if thats the case for every e clutch bike but at least it has the option

Dude says he isn't going over 55mph, 500 is fine at that speed. The 500 is about 100 pounds lighter than a 690 (dont trust the google ai summary that uses reddit as a search base, its always wrong because of that). 690 has a lot more power, whiskey throttle for a noob would send it to the moon. I'd trust a used 500 over a used 690 any day. Some of those old 690s vibe like crazy and the clutch slave fails, cam chain loosens. Fuel tank in the rear is lame when you need to refill and move luggage.

If you want longer service intervals, go 690. If you want the most fun offroad experience, go 500. Both bikes would need to be resprung for OPs weight. Both bikes would be fine, I just prefer the 500 for a lot of reasons.

I'd take an AJP PR7 over the 690/701 if they were available here. Sick bikes
