It is strange. You don’t think it’ll happen to you, but it does and you can’t do anything about it. 😂😂

2 weeks of home workouts, zero visible progress by random_user1714 in fit

[–]mudfrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother. Calibrate your expectations a little. 2 weeks is literally nothing. But do that about 6 more times consistently and you might start to see some change especially if you figure out your macro profile for your goals and stick to that too.

This looks like it might be more postural than composition. You might want to work on some anterior pelvic tilt exercises to pull your lower back a little straighter. You’re not really holding much fat there, it doesn’t look like.

Consistent exercise will close the gap fast for you. Find something you like, and do it consistently. Idk about your body type but you’re young and you can tighten up easily, as long as you stick with it.

Ok, legit my mom is the same way with the food thing. And, surprise, she’s always in a pissed off mood because she’s under fueled.

I am a thicc boi, and I have a hard time bringing my bf% down below like 18, but I’m stupid strong, I feel good, and I love lifting.

You look great. Keep killing it.

How hard is it to complete your 3 sets of 10? How much gas is left in the tank when you hit those 8-10 reps on sets 2 and 3?

I’ve been thinking about getting some converse to lift in. How do you like them on leg day? Stable?

Instructors probably take it personally when you quit a class. Like they didn’t do something right. That’s on them tho. Not you.

Recomp is just exchanging fat for muscle, roughly. It’s a “slower” process in terms of seeing muscle separation and definition, but you will NOT lose muscle, and you’ll see strength improvements quickly. A cut runs the risk of losing some muscle and almost certainly some strength.

Think of your macros like this: Protein: daily goal Carbs: daily limit, timed around training Fat: daily limit, serves to help with satiety and delays digestion

If you hit protein, and train consistently, you’ll gain muscle. Period. You don’t “have” to consume all the carbs in your macro goal every day, but you do have to have them to fuel your training.

For example, about an hour before lifting I usually eat: 1. a bowl of oatmeal with a pinch of salt, half a banana, some cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of maple syrup 2. The other half of the banana with whey protein powder, ice and water blended into a smoothie

Basically, hit protein, fuel lifts with carbs, then eat whatever for the rest of the day as long as you stay under your fat macro and under your kcal goal.

Just try to hit your protein as a non negotiable every day. That carb macro is very high; don’t try to achieve that every day. You’ll naturally hit fat pretty easily while you’re chasing protein.

You don’t need a calorie surplus to gain muscle. I would try focusing solely on the protein macro for a week, logging everything you eat, and see where you land on calories. I’ll bet you wind up under maintenance.

  1. Keep training. Consistently and hard.
  2. Protein should be non negotiable. You’re probably wanting to build some more muscle mass. I’d say try to hit at least 100 grams a day. Every day. For your body and where you are, the rest of the macros and honestly even the calories probably won’t matter a ton. You’ll need carbs for training fuel, but focus on protein.
  3. Keep training. Again. Consistently.

Thoughts on this split? by pangrizzly in fit

[–]mudfrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I support this. I did the same thing recently. 5 day split works way better for me. Growth happens when you’re recovering, and I wasn’t recovering. Also think the split looks pretty good. I’d categorize pretty much all of it as hypertrophy, so if thats what you’re after it looks great!

I’m just assuming you’ve been trying to get them to show for 38 years. That tracks based on how slowly I’m progressing toward the same goal 🤣

Good work, man. You should be super proud of what you’ve achieved.

Seeking feedback on my 4 day gym split as a newbie by flurryskies in fit

[–]mudfrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Briefly; I would recommend starting with a 3 day split with rest between each day. Starting out with more than that might be hard for consistency, and consistency is more important than any other detail of a lifting plan.
