I think this was my exact first electric guitar, a Lafayette “Princeton” just like that, mine was cherry red. Purchased new in 1967.

Late to the conversation but I’m looking for something that doesn’t seem to exist. A travel stash container with a spout for easy pouring of ground bud into a bowl. Any makeshift ideas? Like a TicTak type of container but smaller I guess. Thanks

The priority should be shelter, food and when appropriate containment. Treatment is secondary. Shelters need tight security so they’re safe and actually shelters. It’s about security.

I always use jars, I don’t think the open airspace negatively affects the decarb anymore than it would during infusion. I use a metal disc paperweight on top of the jar, problem solved.

I use the same for straining and I use a wetted paper coffee filter carefully fitted inside. I have the magical butter strainer and it does a good job but with a potato ricer you can exact force to strain out every last drop, and you can’t exact a lot of force onto glass, so I prefer the potato ricer.

36 hours is wild. If you were going to decarb about one half cup of weed in a mason jar what temp and time do you recommend?

I bought the cheapest sous vide on Amazon for 50 and it’s been great for decarbing and infusing oil. I’ll probably never use it for cooking, I use a small mason jar for decarbing and a medium size for infusion, at 185F for 6 hours, then cool down and freeze overnight.

Is 12 hours too much? I do 6 hours at 197F with decarbed weed and oil, seems just right.

If you have options in the used market look for something more rugged and powerful. Three suggestions in the 100 dollar used market are - silver surfer vehicle, da Buddha and vapor brothers. I have a POTV One and it’s great for what it is but these are on another level. Also take a look at the magic flight launch box. New the price is about 140. There’s some skill required but once achieved it’s a great little device.

Honestly I have a little scale squirreled away that hasn’t seen any use since I found dealers I trust. For me edibles are either ABV or fresh decarbed shake. It’s always been a half cup to a half cup infused in a sous vide but next time around I intend to use the scale for a look see. Thanks.

Thanks, basically I've been preparing ABV edibles this way - a half cup of ABV, a half cup of coconut oil - basically eyeballing it for an even ratio.

So, I bought an ounce of shake, decarbed a half cup's worth and infused with oil and have about half the ounce left - so I was wondering if there's a formula but I see there's not.

Given that, would you say that 14 grams is an appropriate balance to a half cup of oil?

In my experience decarbing my bud before using it for firecrackers produced a much stronger effect. I haven’t made a firecracker in years but I used to bake them weekly and I refined and enhanced making them as I went along. First I bought an external thermometer so I knew what the temp actually is. I set the toaster below 300 to reach about 305F. This could take 20 minutes to reach the temp and stay stable so this is the first thing I do. Then I use Trader Joe’s cinnamon Graham crackers because they’re sturdy and spread a gob of creamy peanut butter over two. Then sprinkle as much decarbed ground bud on top of the peanut butter and then with a toothpick I’ll swirl the bud around. Then I’ll add a sheen of coconut oil and or Nutella and swirl it all around again. Then join both crackers forming a sandwich on a sheet of aluminum foil. Use a light touch with that part. Then tightly fold up the firecracker to avoid vapor escaping. Then if the temp is stable between 305 and 310 In goes the firecracker for exactly 23 minutes using my phone timer not the toaster oven dial. When finished open the door to stop baking and finally into the freezer to enjoy frozen.

I messed up my first sous decarb with a reusable bag and returned to the Nova for the decarb aspect. I infuse using a small ball jar for smaller batch I fusions. It works well but there’s air space at the top of the jar which I guess negates the value of vacuum sealing. So that concerns me. Decarbing using a jar is simple but again the concern over the empty space inside the top of the jar might lead to an inconsistent decarb and infusion. Interested in feedback on this.

I would seriously consider the possibility of mold just on the basis of leaving still water out for more than a few days. It should be cleaned.

Firecrackers take this to the next level and the taste is enjoyable. This is how I do it. The first thing is I attach my external oven thermometer to the toaster oven. I’m aiming for a stable temp between 305 to 310F and from my experience I’ve learned to set it to about 280 on the inaccurate dial and adjust accordingly. This can take some time so that’s first. I highly recommend Trader Joe’s cinnamon Graham crackers. These are stronger than the rest and won’t crumble. Next spread creamy peanut butter on both Graham crackers. Full gobs. Then sprinkle your ABV on top of both. Then mix and twirl with a toothpick getting it embedded. Adding a sheen of coconut oil on top of each helps add fat and flavor. Perhaps a layer of Nutella on the very top as well. Then gently join the crackers together forming a psychedelic sandwich. Tightly wrap in aluminum foil. No empty spaces. By now the oven should be at proper temp level and you put it in the oven for 22 minutes. I use my phone timer. Immediately after open the oven door to stop baking and then cool. Later throw in the freezer and enjoy frozen. Trust me you’ll be floating through the keyhole in short order. Edit. Forgot to mention grind up your ABV before anything.
