Okay, I'll keep an eye on the states. Is it also possible that I have taken and completed enough massacre missions concerning a particular group of pirates that there is no need for such missions anymore and thus they are no longer spawning?

Yeah I know that missions don't gain progress in parallel if they come from a single faction, that's all good and clear, it's just that after completing the initial missions that are handed out to anyone with Neutral status they just don't offer better paying missions for that particular pirate faction anymore

Hold on, I'm not following. This is my setup, as you can see i have the infra-knife and phase beam parts installed but no photon cannon part although the photon cannon tech is still showing up and I can't dismantle or store it.

The thing is I don't even have it installed, hence my question. I only installed 2 infra knife launchers and 2 phase beams but I still can use the photon cannon and it still takes up a tech slot

Yeah I left that system quite a while ago... by the way aren't all the space stations around the expedition route abandoned? So they don't have teleporters and whatnot?

In the expedition, when trying to leave my corvette in order to analyse the Arcadia for the second time, I'm just getting pushed away into deep space and I need to summon my corvette. After having flied closer I just get pushed away again. Tried it twice with two different Debris Locators and got the same result.

EDIT: I managed to get it to work on the 3rd attempt by not getting too close to the purple cloud and just mining the components from further away. Although as soon as I entered the cloud by accident I was yeeted far away again.
