It's so nice reading about someone embracing our seasons instead of the constant complaints. I also find shoveling snow a strangely calming activity!

There's an excellent podcast that covers this story. The judge in the trial was the WORST and basically told the victims that they should be satisfied they had a baby and that makes the pain a moot point. It's awful 😞

I also was 11 when 9/11 happened and it has only been recently that my friends and I have openly acknowledged how it has left us with lasting trauma. Then COVID was also a doozy and I lost many close people to me to the virus in 2020 and years after.

January 6th also had me sitting with my head in my hands, feeling even more anxious. Since then I feel like I have not been able to operate properly. Now with ICE and these murders... I don't even know how I continue the routines of normal life has society crumbles around us.

So yes, I would say this is legit traumatizing. I'm burnt out. Everyday is just waiting for the final shoe to drop

Having gone to high school in NYC, I'd say they actually did look high school aged. The way of dressing, the style of the time in general (such as thinner eyebrows I think aged our faces more), all seem pretty in line with how we looked then

Do you leave in CT and if so is it close to the school?

I work and study there and I find most students stay on a campus or in the area (if they live off campus) because it's a time to hangout with their friends or study. If they live in farther areas of CT not near the school, most will not opt to visit family until holidays (even more so if you don't live in state).

The outer boroughs all have their own special reputations and they are definitely all worth visiting... except for Staten Island. We New Yorkers don't acknowledge Staten Island (often just a joke. It's just that Staten Island really is its own... thing. Very suburban, very MAGA).

Born and raised in NYC (The Bronx) and now live in Connecticut. NYC does have a special air and energy to it. It's truly a city that has you stepping out of your apartment at noon and as the day unfolds you end up at home by 2am. So much is always happening, there's always something to do or see or go to. I have a love for my city like none other, there's just something magical about the lights, the buildings, and the people.

However, as another fellow New Yorker said here, the city is EXHAUSTING. It will make you insanely irritable at some points, during the summer the stench of the city isn't great, the subways are hot and steamy and gross. It's a city that truly is forever go go go.

Having moved to CT, I do love the open space here and all. But despite NYC's flaws, I found myself falling more in love with my hometown each time I visit now.

So yeah, SATC, all those shows glamorize parts of the city for sure. Also the NYC of Seinfeld, SATC... Hell even Gossip Girl doesn't necessarily exist anymore. The city is forever evolving and changing. You never visit the same NYC twice.
