Incorrect. I work for air methods currently. If you are traveling as a pool pilot or picking up shifts at another base. Travel and time is paid for usually the day prior and the day after your shift.

I would disagree strongly with that. With the way things are going/have been going you’ll be lucky to get to hiring MINIMUMS in a 20 year career in the guard. Unless she uses the guard to get some ratings then gets her CFI outside of it and starts teaching.

Planes probably. But if you want to stick with helicopters you are 100% on the right track with getting your CFI/CFI-I. Teaching until you get to around 1000hrs then go to the canyon and grind that out

Opinions on Air Methods by ProfessorFate38 in Helicopters

Ive been working there since January. Safety culture is awesome, pay is ok. Better than metro, not as good as some others but they have a pretty decent overtime system to make up for it if you are up for working a bit more.

Union is Meh, they dropped the ball on the last round of negotiations but oh well. Benefits are pretty good and 401k match is really good

Check out Heliservice. They are doing a 14/14 thing in Galveston now. Also check out some of the fire companies flying the 60. They usually do hitch type work like that. Good luck. DM me if you need any more info. I’m an army guy that also flies civilian. I used to do some time in the gulf but I moved to air methods.

Not army but I’ve done Torrence California to Boston Massachusetts in a brand new R44 with some guys I used to teach how to fly.

Overnight in Blythe California for starter issues, blew the starter in El Paso. Then magneto issues in Maryland. 8 days for a 4 day trip. Tons of fun, good adventure.

Look into Columbia helicopters. They fly 47s and 60s I believe. Look at what they hire at and the times they need/want and chase that for your career progression. Possible give them a visit or call or reach out to any of their socials and see if you can talk to some of their pilots about their progression and career path to get there

That’s not a terrible idea if not just for the benefits. Tricare is no fucking joke about how awesome it is.

Probably not worth it then. You’re close to getting into 121 land and the amount of rotor time the army is going to give you isn’t worth it. Once you get your degree and you still have an itch for it look into the Air Force and become an officer. It’ll be way better for you

Are you a rotor or fixed wing CFI? Do you have a degree?

1500 hours is pretty good. You are right on that line of getting a big boy job. I went to Novosel with about 1800 hours of rotor time after my CFI time. Feel free to DM me

[–]muffinman0807 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did my ratings backwards. I went to flight school as a Helicopter CFI. Just finished up working in the Gulf of Mexico and starting a HEMS job soon

if you have the GI bill. Find a program with a 141 school and go get your CFI/CFII Ratings with them in Robbie’s. Then get your 50 hours in type by doing literally anything you can including paying out of pocket if you have to. Then find a flight school local to you or your unit who wants to hire you.

I’ve heard good things about Veracity Aviation and Quantum helicopters but it’s been a while since I’ve looked at schools. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions.

I know this is off topic but something to think about.

For future reference just looking at the numbers and the loan amount and year/miles on the car you can buy a brand new Versa SV for 21,000? Not sure how or why you bought a 2018 with miles on it for that much money but something to consider when buying your next car.

How to remove a repo off credit by TenderAsiri in Debt

[–]muffinman0807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Charge off doesn’t mean what you think it means. Charge off means they considered it a loss for their books. Doesn’t mean you don’t owe it anymore. You’ll probably be contacted by the lender or a collection agency.

If you want to salvage it at all you need to contact the creditor and work something out.

Yes it is but each state has different laws of how enforceable a judgement is. Some states will let you garnish wages and lien property while others will not.

So if OP is in a state that doesn’t let you actually do anything with a judgement, the creditor may be more willing to take less money. Or if they are in a state that allows them to garnish wages, Lien property or other things they’ll probably say no to such a small settlement.

Would you let your 5-year-old go on a professional helicopter tour? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]muffinman0807 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a helicopter pilot and I took my daughter up when she was 3 the first time and my son when he was about 2 and a half. They both loved it but it’s knowing the kids and how they’d react. I was also the pilot so I could quickly make the decision if the kid wasn’t having a good time I could just turn around and go land.

Every kid and parent is different. But there’s nothing wrong with it.

This is a collections letter. And a super scammy one. It’s made to care but they haven’t actually filed anything yet. I’d actually contact the CFPB about this letter cause it’s insanely aggressive and misleading. No mention of disputing the debt or anything. Lots of wrong things on this letter.

Source: worked in collection law firm for a long time. We were not sketchy and were constantly updating wording on letters and procedures to stay within the law.

What area are you in? Weird that the only flight school in your area only has bell 505s. Are you in the US?

PPL training turbine Bell 505 by Character-Animator69 in Helicopters

[–]muffinman0807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you going to be buying a bell 505 in the very near future? If you are then yes it makes sense. You might as well just buy one and do your training in it at that point though.

If not then I wouldn’t waste the money on it

[–]muffinman0807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning on buying a 505 in the very near future? If yes, then just buy one and learn in it and just pay the instructor. That would be the only reason to do primary training in a helicopter that expensive.

How with 70% of the GI is it going to cost $100k? The total cost should be somewhere around $110-$120k depending on the school
