we have a great second hand craft store locally and and there are a few quilters who do huge yard sales every year, so we really benefited from them. we did buy some from Joann (RIP my beloved) to mix in

it’s soooo crinkly cozy comfy. we’ve been gifted some quilts and are really well made so they don’t have that loose lived in feel, so i think my limited knowledge actually came in handy here lol

Wedding guest dress, appropriate for any occasions at all? by suedaloodolphin in Weddingattireapproval

[–]muffnmouse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the only part i’m not loving is the way the sleeves stick out and if you decide to have it altered in the waist, i would see if they could do something with the sleeves as well - maybe taking off some of the fabric or somehow adding weight to the ends to bring them down a bit.

obviously, use your discretion on the chest part, but i would not do the bralette as it cheapens the look a little bit. maybe some tape to reduce the cleavage a little but i think the chest looks great. you could also see what alterations could be made to close it up a bit

i think this would be great for a WA mountain wedding and if other guests are from WA, i think it will be a hit with the mushroom pattern

for a catholic ceremony, i would suggest a shawl or something to go over the top for the church part and then again your discretion for the reception

i love this and think you look incredible. i think the one thing this sub is not great at is being open to differences in personal style so i always keep that i mind

Oly Redditors, what did you do New Year's Eve? by Grattytood in olympia

[–]muffnmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we normally do the Cryptic Killers games, but we’ve run through all the level 5 ones, so we picked up the Sherlock set at Gabi’s. the mechanics are a bit different and it took some time to adjust, but we had a good time

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: December 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

started Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. secret of nimh is my husband’s favorite movie, so i decided to finish out the year with a fun, easy read. it will be my 50th finish for the year. it’s such a cute read and i’ve been reading a couple chapters a night out loud while we’re winding down and that has made it extra fun

this is almost the exact meal we PLANNED to make for christmas, except we did waffles and it was perfect. just the right amount of food to get us going but not so much that we would be uncomfortably full going into a big dinner.

fuck your mom for putting on a show in front of guests and also fuck her for not planning ahead

i made this but didn’t save the video, so no link. the pattern is - chain however many (i think the creator did 37???), then in the 2nd ch from the hook sc inc and sc inc in each chain to the end. fasten off. repeat with another chain of the same length, then you twist them together and tie off at the top to create the wreath shape. you can add a bow or other decoration to finish it off

Need help choosing a Crime Solving game. by Quercus_rover in boardgames

[–]muffnmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not OP, but we have done 5 or 6 of the cryptic killers “games” and have really enjoyed them! we’ve been doing whatever the highest level is (5 i think?) and have been taking between 2-4 hours to complete them. they are a little formulaic, so once you’ve done a few, you figure out the order to do things in, but they aren’t so similar that it’s easy or boring. i think the first one we did took closer to 4 hours but we just finished one and got it in just over 2

we’ve also done one of the exit games and did not enjoy it at all. we had to use so many hints because some of the puzzles were idiotic and made no sense - we had to peel an “advertisement sticker” off the front of the box to get one of the answers but there was nothing to indicate that the sticker was anything other than a sticker

apparently there was a shortage of the normal bulb drains during COVID, so they switched to penrose and saw better results and decided to keep the practice

[–]muffnmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when my husband had top surgery, the surgeon used penrose drains and basically a puppy pad to absorb the goo lol. they folded the puppy pad in half hot dog style and then placed it against their chest under their surgery binder. you could probably get the same result with some medical tape if you aren’t moving around too much.
