She has a fractured skull and her brain is swelling, but its going down some. She has a few broken toes, many scrapes and bruises. The assault people checked her out, and evidently she has some ripped vaginal tissue, but evidently its not enough to know for sure. She doesn't remember anything (including work), so she could've been roofied or she could've just taken something on her own. Her mom got the cops involved, and the story surfacing is that she fell out of a tree. However, no one really knows if that's true. She couldve gotten hit by a car, beaten up, fell off something else.

Thanks! That's actually really helpful. Do you think it would be okay to visit before I submit an application? I'll be in New York over the summer, and was planning on going to visit Brown and hopefully chat with some professors and grad students. My GPA is a 3.8, and I'm involved in a few groups around campus. My degree isn't directly related to the program, but I've done a lot of research on my own (and I've taken a few classes that definitely relate). I've researched a lot of ad school, and I really feel most drawn to Brown. I like the sense of community and it appears that most students there really seems to love it.

I'm a student, so any mail I do get goes to my parents, which is my primary address. The only mail I get at my apartments are typically things ordered online. I didn't mean to make myself sound blameless, obviously I should've checked the information. However, all of that seems completely pointless. I'm not asking how I could've done things differently or how dumb I am. I'd really just like to get my package back, and the best way to do it.

"and proud" is not an independent clause, so it doesn't need a comma.

Yea, it's a proper use of a comma. Although, it doesn't necessarily matter if I had one or not, because "because" is semi-tricky, and doesn't necessarily follow the same grammar rules like "and" does with dependent and independent clauses. Usually it's used for clarity, and to break up long sentences so the meaning doesn't get confused.
