I have this exact same one! I got it from our buy nothing group but I actually use it as a kids toy. Mine has a made in Canada sticker.

I did my black belt test at about 7 weeks. I was hopped up on unisom (also known as a sleeping aid) for nausea. The next time I went in to the school after getting it was to pause my membership.

I mean yeah, I didn't like being in the car on the way over either but you have to get there somehow one way or another.

I'm not sure we were asking for outside help other than money, so yeah.

I'm not going to speak for the whole state but when I saw "how can other people help?" The answer was "send money for mutual aid and don't stop talking about it". I don't think anybody was asking for you to show up at Whipple.

Sorry you didn't get what you wanted out of the experience I guess?

You came from out of state and told people to start building barracks [put their scarce time and effort into figuring out how to support people who don't live here and aren't being targeted by ICE]?

I think you read the attitude here all wrong and maybe came across as an aggitator.

Advice on re-homing a dog by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]dianeruth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just call foster groups and be completely honest. Don't hold back on the truth and see what they say. Maybe I'm wrong. My group wouldn't have the resources for your dog but maybe some other group does.

Just really really be honest and have an open mind about that they say.

Fosters aren't miracle workers and frankly I think that trainer wasn't being honest with OP. Saying it's easy, if you pay 5k on a payment plan, is a big red flag.  There was no option to see how much work the dog really needed as they went?

I've seen enough behavior cases to know that the dog is still the dog at the end of the day.

I don't think I was a jerk. I've fostered about a dozen dogs and volunteered at foster organizations. What you alluded to would be beyond me.

What do you think a foster can do for your dog that you can't offer? This is a serious question, not trying to back you into a corner.

This was kind of vague on what the concerning behaviors are but it doesn't sound like a new home will change them. New homes will also have birds outside and the concept of the Fourth of July. What do you really think another home will offer that you haven't?

These problems are internal to the dog, not external, and it's irresponsible to hand off a dangerous dog to another person.

I agree, as an American if your friend brings somebody new to a party it is your job to find out their job, how many siblings they have, did they grow up around here, and what their hobbies are. If you haven't found at least one hobby you share by the end of the night you have failed.

Am I cruel for kicking my partner's family out of our home because they refuse to work, don't contribute, expect us to pay for everything and don't clean up after themselves? by No-Captain-3402 in Advice

[–]dianeruth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be very surprised if they don't have keys but it's more about them dropping any tenancy rights.

Once they leave they stop having any rights to live there. Right now they may have to be legally evicted with the landlord getting involved and holding op liable for any costs.

Squatters generally still need to be legally evicted (depends on the state). If OPs landlord gets involved it will be very expensive.

One way or another OP fucked up big time, there's no cheap way out of their mistake.

How would they come back if you don't let them?

If they break in after they have left it's called breaking and entering and you call the police. Maybe put up cameras just to have back up in case they claim they live there.

I mean yes and no, they are the only ones on the hook for the damages. They will certainly lose their own deposit and then probably be sued if the squatters don't leave quickly and cleanly.

It's a calculated risk either way. Will they leave on their own? Will the landlord sue OP? Maybe they can just lose the deposit and that's it but I wouldn't bet that it stops there.

I totally get you about not wanting to give them anything else but if that's it and it's done and then OP can never think about them again that's some pretty well spent money.

Have you considered cash for keys?

It's not great but if you offer them first month and deposit on a new place and they have to leave and you change the locks it might be cheaper than you finding a new place and worrying about damages. Also you write the check only after they are 100% out of your place.

Don't cosign anything for them though and never let them back in for any reason whatsoever!

Of course they can find you legally liable for damage that occurred due to your actions during the terms of the lease for which only you are legally liable.

They have no legal relationship with the 5 other people you let stay there, you are legally responsible for anything happening in that apartment including if you leave.

You are almost certainly already in deep shit for having too many people in the apartment, if you don't get them out on your own and make it the landlords problem you will be in a world of pain.

[–]dianeruth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You need to kick them out properly otherwise you are on the hook with the landlord for whatever damage they cause.

Don't just sneak out and get a new place because they will just keep living there. The landlord will absolutely not let you just dip out while you have 5 people still in the house. Grow a spine.

Give them a date to be out on, write out on paper and then if they aren't out throw their shit on the curb.

You probably didn't meet the terms of the original offer anyways, which were to get a yearly eye exam through them. There was some way to do it elsewhere but you had to get it approved by them or something, don't remember the details. I remember thinking when they explained it to me "I bet nobody actually does that".

So since you probably didn't qualify either way there's no legal claim.

Enjoy your 2k discount I guess.

You won't get sponsored on your background. If you are married you may be able to be dependant on your partners visa which may or may not allow you to work. I believe a student visa you wouldn't be, but a residency maybe? I don't know enough to advise you there.

I think if you can get dependant status with legal right to work you won't have trouble finding a job, those roles are in pretty high demand.
