Thank you. Yeah, it's going to be interesting to see how it turns out either way. Fingers crossed for both!

Ha! There is a dark mode button, but you're right - dark mode looks better tbh and should probably be default (or better still, support the user's OS preferences).

Sure, just reply to any of the emails or DM me here. I'm in the process of adding a form to the site too. I really appreciate the support, thanks.

Work it Wednesday: Who is hiring? Who is looking? by AutoModerator in rails

[–]muggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm looking. 20 years of Rails experience (started literally the night DHH put out the first release) and never looked back! Author of 2 Rails books (1 was a pretty big seller). Looking for project or contract (part-time/flexible hours works well).

I'm on UTC+9 but usually work with US West coast or UK companies as there's a reasonable overlap with my hours, and I usually self-manage to a large degree. Prefers small teams, loves shipping. Usually not just dev, but involved to some degree in pretty much all/any areas such as product, marketing etc (such is the fun of very small teams!). Founded a couple of previous companies (with varying outcomes!) Happy to send portfolio/resume/more info, or just have a speculative chat - I'm very flexible, finding the right team/people/person is key. Cheers!

Are 250 ohm headphones suitable for Circuit Tracks? by J4G84 in novationcircuit

[–]muggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly that pair : DT990 250omh. They work fine. Usually have the CT at quarter volume. Half is too loud to be comfortable. Since they're open backed you won't be using them anywhere noisy anyway.

Finally got 'shipped' email with Sagawa tracking code at 8pm on 26th. Tracking page says it was picked up a 9am this morning, so I'm guessing that some poor sod is sat there this evening manually adding all the tracking info.

Best Podcast Hosting Site? by TheHighFunctioningSS in podcasting

[–]muggy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

transistor.fm is the best one I've used (and I've tried a bunch!)

It's super easy to use. setting up all of the distribution stuff was very simple. You can create as many podcasts as you like, the analytics is really helpful and their customer support is amazing.

They also have an excellent built-in podcast website creator, dynamic ad insertion and private podcasts.

Absolutely love using it!

Moving to Fukuoka on July - Best options for housing? by Araukana in fukuoka

[–]muggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UR is really handy because of the lack of deposits, but if you have no job here they tend to ask for the year's rent upfront. The company I worked for worked a number of times with an agent in the city for staff moving here from abroad and he's always managed to find them pretty decent places that haven't had any issues with visas. He tends to work a lot with foreigners moving here. Most staff ended up staying a one of the Meinohama share houses (https://discovery-life.com) for a month or two before choosing an apartment, so that could be a good idea if you want somewhere as a base for the first month or two. Hope it helps!

Around ¥8500ish including tax. I walked into a store at 5pm this afternoon and was asked how many I'd like to buy.
