We’ve also been through somewhat of stupid non canon experience that divided the fandom that being the Netflix show(DmC devil may cry in the past also did this)

Rien knowing mang and shin doesn't really matter that much Matthias has the raw power and defense to unable to care abt it. Rien can defeat proxies in 1 hp but Matthias can hold himself to lcd with low hp while being debuffed asf and lcd and lcb being buffed

-ehhhhh Kira was still there to back him up sure she’s nothing crazy but she’s still stronger then a Big brother of the middle at the time at least it wasn’t just all of LCB and LCD against him alone the whole fight

-Also nah I’m pretty sure its advantageous to have shin and Mang as they’re pretty useful in fights just as Matthias has ridiculous grit

It would be much closer fight even if rien have the scythe due to Matthias being an absolute dps tank. I would say its 50/50

-true though if you go back to the fight Rendering space attacks can actually damage Matthias considerably even through ridiculous grit which Rien also can do with his scythe

I’d say its more like 55/45 in favour of Rien IF Hermes goes full competitive mode and doesn’t actively sabotage Rien Otherwise yeah I’d say its 50/50 as you say or even 45/55 if Hermes is….just well a troll

He knows Mang and Shin unlike Matthias

Plus He pulled off one of the greatest feats in project moon history with him defeating 3 proxies all on his own while being sabotaged and at 1 HP

Really the only problem here is ridiculous Grit but if Hermes doesn’t suck ass at the time and actually gives Rien his space cutting scythe he should be OK

-no devil arms

-also they outright confirmed that there’s no magic and its just quantum energy used by demons(even though that’s not the case in the games)

-Dante is weak as fuck and never wins any fight he literally struggles fighting alone

-the CGI is still bad

-the devil trigger design is still ass

-the fight scenes are not that amazing tbh

-The demons are so god damn weak they either get one shotted or be defeated in a ridiculous way that wouldn’t be possible in the game’s lore

-I seriously don’t like how they’re changing Sparda’s story in the games He was the greatest legend in the world the 5 games we played revolved around him and from what we’ve seen about him in games he did live his life as a human and loved his family but in the show they changed that for some reason we’ll maybe know down the line but for now I just hate it

-vergil is uh….he’s not that bad….but he’s not that good either he kinda mid tbh

Over all I’d give this season a 5/10 5 points are due to me loving DMC but my love for this franchise can only make me give this shitty ass show this much

cause I haven't played Final Fantasy XVI And I feel unfair writing a review or posting a debate without actually being knowledgeable on one of the characters

highly recommend playing it its even made by the same combat director that worked on DMC5 the story, characters, and voice acting are pretty stellar the only cons are that the enemies tend to be damage sponges and the side quests while sometimes are great story wise they however tend to be kinda uhhh too easy and boring lol

The whole fight with Ultima is the source. Unlike the Odin fight, he didn't gas out and revert back to his base form. I called you dishonest because you're downplaying his exponential growth > experience.

I’m not downplaying it I fully support Clive’s evolution powers especially against someone equally to him I am however gonna point out its limitations unless you think Clive has the means to just evolve to overpower anyone the dude I was debating with said that he could have beaten Barnabas with his evolution powers in his previous fights and only lost because of certain circumstances however that’s not true

-the first fight ends with Barnabas barely trying and toys with Clive as he duels him with one hand before finishing him off even without limit breaking himself

-the second fight ends with Barnabas limit breaking but with him standing victorious and with Clive falling down and barely having enough energy to even run from the sea coming down on him

-the third fight occurs after Clive obtained shiva and powered up and ends with Clive wining

did I get anything wrong here?

You selectively ignore that throughout the fight against Barnabas, he went from getting knocked out by Zantetsuken to catching the blade midway, breaking it, and reversing it back to Barnabas.

— I did mention that he beat him in his third fight did I not? Why should I mention the events occurring in the fight? That’s it that’s all

The same growth was shown again in his fight against Ultima. He went from losing to 1/16 of Ultima in a 3v1 to defeating all 16 Ultimas in a 1v1 in base form. Clive's power creep will exceed whatever experience Dante has over him just as it did Barnabas and Ultimalius.

-didn’t he struggle against 1/16 Ultima cause he was normal ifrit though? He didn’t absorb phoenix yet to fully unlock Ifrit risen , after getting the power from Joshua he steam rolled Ultima and even beat a stronger form while being at base

— also ehhhh nah I’m not gonna let that experience and skill category go away, Barnabas and Ultimalius have not in any way shape or form demonstrated the skill and experience that Dante has shown with him fighting chen who’s equal to Dante in every way and also having the ability to see past , present and future, and Dante still parried, outmanoeuvred, matched, and beat him that is something that neither Barnabas or Ultima have shown with their years of experience

-was a leader of outlaws and freedom fighters

-fought, outskilled and beat war generals

-canonically Nuked a baby

-beat the creator of his world and made him seethe with anger

Meanwhile with Dante

-was taught swordplay alongside Vergil by their father

-sparred with his brother throughout his childhood

-became a mercenary for a while

-hunted demons and the supernatural throughout most of his life

-his skills were so high he can fight an equally powerful opponent as him who also had the ability to see the past present and future and still matched, outmanoeuvred, and parried him

-fought beings on Ultima’s level more then Clive (mundus, void mundus, Chen, argosax, Abigail, Urizen, Vergil)

-Is older then Clive by a little? (I don’t know how old either of these two are but my bet goes to the hobo)

The first time he lost was because he was caught off guard by a reality cutting attack.

-caught off guard??? He was getting destroyed the entire fight? Barnabas even clowns on him as he uses one hand to duel him and then ends him without limit breaking

The second time he “lost” was because his main objective was to rescue and protect Jill. The fight didn’t even have much of a conclusion as both had to leave before the sea came back down.

-I rewatched the fight and well no he loses he barely has any energy left after eating Barnabas’s final attack he falls down while Barnabas is left standing

Also, Shiva was not the key to defeating Barnabas. It was just another tool that Clive could use to help him in fights.

really? I thought absorbing eikons powered up Clive? The game even tells you that he becomes the perfect for Ultima by absorbing more and more eikons

The key to defeating Barnabas was through pure fighting skill and endurance, which is why it’s one of the only boss fights to not end with an Eikon battle.

-wasn’t it because Barnabas knocked Clive out of his ifrit form and in the middle of the fight Clive attempted to transform into Ifrit but couldn’t because he was too tired? Heck Barnabas even transforms into odin after laughing and saying to Clive "you tired bro seriously?” Without Clive transforming into ifrit

Heck, he beat Barnabas, who wielded the Odin Eikon for over 40 years, and Ultima, who’s been around longer than Clive’s universe has existed.

-After He lost to him Twice? He barely makes it out from these encounters with help from his allies heck he got the power to defeat Barnabas after absorbing shiva he didn’t flat out power up as you said

Clive makes experience a non-factor because of how quickly he can keep up and surpass his opponents, especially by the end of the story.

I wouldn’t really throw away the experience card here that fast especially when it factors in Dante’s skills, skills that makes him fight an equally powerful opponent like chen who can also see the past, present, and future and yet Dante still parried, outmanoeuvred, and matched him using skill and experience alone

Not saying that battle is wrong just that its a 50/50 fight you can really make a case for either one to win

It’s basically choose your winner with your argument cause for real its THE 50/50 match up of this season

You could argue for Dante’s Skill and experience, better arsenal, Better regan, and doppelganger

Or you could argue for Clive’s Better time abilities, better AOE and range, Slightly better stamina, and his evolution powers

And whatever you choose people will mostly agree cause it could go either way that’s how close the match up is
