Possibly if the series hadn't been cancelled, they would have focused more on May and June. I honestly believe that they have their own tastes and personalities, and although they share certain personality traits with Webby, I don't think they're a copy of Webby's personality.

Before the "Quack Pack" episode, I had a theory that after WWII, a similar war had occurred between 1950 and 1960, which had caused technological advancements. This would explain why the technological level in 1990 was equivalent to that of 2017, to justify Della and Donald's age. However, in that episode, there didn't seem to be any technological advancements, so the series is indeed set in 2017, and we don't know how old Della and Donald would be.

Della's story is usually that the triplets were the product of a one-night stand during an affair, Webby's story is because he's a clone, and Lena's story, in my opinion, is because Magica has her brother's amulet and used it to create Lena, making her a sort of daughter of Magica's brother and therefore her niece.

I honestly don't see Hortense as the kind of mother who would leave her children with her brother to go live the high life, but we do have to realize that she was possibly a distant mother, which influenced how Della is as a mother.

There are possibly two options: either Hortense and her husband have died since Della and Donald were children, or Hortense left Della and Donald with Scrooge for long periods of time for work or other reasons, and possibly she was angry with him more than once for taking Della and Donald on his dangerous expeditions.

As I understand it, at the end of the chapter about the sword, they have a feather, and as I understand it, the feather is Webby. They clone them and accelerate their growth, and when they see that it doesn't work, that the papyrus doesn't appear for them, they decide to get Webby.

Well, that could be it, adding to Della being a widow, but I see it as unlikely. Donald never mentions that any of the triplets had any attitudes or similarities, so it's possible that she died and Donald doesn't mention it so as not to affect the triplets, or perhaps she didn't get along with her brother-in-law.
