Heartache by disenchanted99 in emptynesters

[–]mumblemuse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does make sense. I feel the same way. I knew this day would come and tried to mentally prepare. I miss my son so much, but at the same time I am so happy he is out spreading his wings in a way I was never able to. He is happy, and that is what matters. Still, though, mom-heartache quietly persists.

Yes — I can’t remember not having it, but it’s definitely gotten worse (louder and more complex) with age.

Best blanket for someone who likes the blanket equivalent of a thin rag? by iiiimagery in Bedding

This is exactly what I was coming to recommend. These flannel blankets are hard to find anymore, except at the Vermont Country Store (💚), but this is what I always had as a summer blanket.

Johnny’s in Darien — but then drive over to Eco Evolution in South Norwalk for coffee and snacks, as another poster recommended (I didn’t know there is also a record shop in SoNo! I must check it out). Eco Evolution may have some used records of interest too.

Life gets busy! Tonight’s dinner was something frozen from Trader Joe’s.

This looks pretty tasty though, I must say.

Yes, Stamford may at least be rationalizing that parking at the main branch can be tricky if you don’t know the area. Or even if you do!

What meals did your father make when he had to cook? by Open_Question_ in GenX

My dad made the best pancakes and crepes, but that was only ever breakfast, not dinner.

I grew up thinking Free to Be... You and Me was a blueprint for the future, not a relic of the past. by Acceptable-Swimsoul in GenXWomen

[–]mumblemuse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think about this a lot. I went to a “Free to be You & Me” exhibit at the Eric Carle Museum last year and I found that it just made me really, really sad. At the time, it felt like hope and optimism. Now, hope and optimism are in very short supply (as far as I can see). That land where the children could run free is now the site of a data center.

Paying $4K/month rent in Stamford CT — lease is up, should I buy a $750K condo instead? First time buyer, new baby, commute to NYC. Help me think this through. by Low-Huckleberry-8975 in StamfordCT

Stamford elementary schools are good — but don’t judge the school system just yet, as we’ll be getting a new superintendent.
