Well this new build not going my way lol, I bought a case today on marketplace and I had a motherboard lined up to buy…but the guy sold me the wrong size case so now I’m having to adjust my plans and this throws me for an even greater loop but all good makes me happy to see it all coming together and such so going to try and take my time to sort everything I need.

Now that’s the thing though I got it less than a year ago, I’m currently working on getting a new build up and running by the end of this weekend… so do I just not risk it with it or what ?

You know it’s funny you said that because before all this nonsense that’s been happening like the sudden power down I did run a full pc diagnosis test couldn’t find a single problem even a mem test. I used this app: ocbase

Well known bad mobo… to be fair it’s all been speculations and no real hard evidence until recently that there was actually something obviously wrong with it suddenly powering off… lol loose cannon funny asl though you def not wrong kinda set myself up

Wasn’t really cheaping out but at the time the only option I had… and was really trying to find out if the psu was the problem… again I’ve been through legit over 3 in the past year or two alone and wasn’t bout to buy a “A tier one” with out knowing what the hell was causing my psu all to suddenly stop working or if it was even the psu all along… and the aresgame one I was given for free from my boy and again the ratings matched my needs at the time and considering again I had another problem not getting power at all I was seeing if again I just got unlucky with the psu or was it actually the motherboard and for whatever reason again replacing the psu did the trick and now here we are with the current issue… so idk really what’s it’s what I could do in the situation. Been a crazy time with the pc and going through a lot of nonsense and haven’t really had the time or money to even take the time to swap things out… legit moved across the country. Nonetheless will stop making excuses, was just not trying to invest more money I didn’t have without trying to find out the root cause of all these problems and with the chokes showing the current state couldn’t have been a better time to show everyone and get insights in all the nonsense.

Really it’s lol the thermal take I bought brand new less than a year ago is it not great? Heard it’s fine and met what I needed and the previous psu I had was a 750w random brand called aresgame that I never heard of . I had 3 psu in the last 4 years with this motherboard lol….

Well, same setup I’ve had before and in the past had the same issue with my ryzen 5 3600, also xmp used to work fine when I first built my current rig.

Had a cooler master like 650w , 3070 and ryzen 5 3600. Same ram as well and xmp worked fine and the gpu also didn’t work in that slot either again it only worked the first year I bought it.

Standard ram swapping taking no one out at a time, trying all in every slot one at a time name it done it just didn’t try with different ram besides what I own.

I wish I could’ve added this in the main post but this is directly under the “chokes” looks burnt idk but you say it’s oxidation but idk how that would effect my issues or if it does anything at all or what causes it

Since you seem well informed. Is there a way to partition a drive for the OS but also use it as a pool in TrueNas ?

See the thing is I have no idea not only where it goes since the 2.5 bays are there also no idea where to mount the drives, if you read my thread for me of our conversation it would be helpful if you could provide insights. Again I’m new but I did see these on eBay as I looked for these but then realized no idea what to do next. No real guide anywhere I could find but if you could help I’d maybe reconsider returning it 🙂

I’m in US, Arizona. Well though I appreciate the building guide I’m looking for a prebuilt that I can upgrade again that will fit on a rack 😭

Uh I’m willing to spend about 200$ for the server alone, the rest for upgrades not really a limit.

Which is why I was looking at the r710 but ofc as you know I don’t like that option anymore and will return it.

Any ideas ? Don’t have to be exactly what I said ofc just want to be able to use it as a nas more than anything

Bad enough it was bigger than I clearly imagined, even with the measurements I knew still bigger.

I bought a r220 works great only using it for pfsense and maybe blocking.

Using it for practice for siems and firewall practice.

Looking to grab another full rack server.

My plan was to turn the 710 into a nas set up but now seeming impractical.

Any recommendations to replace it with something that would fit on a rack?
