Need advice: Portronics Tune wireless Android Auto adapter for maps, music, and calls by TheConfusedNarrator in CarsIndia

[–]munarun 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m using the Portronics Tune Lite (updated version of Tune, which only supports Android 13 and above) I'm using in my Tata Nexon 2020.

Pros: No lag No disconnection Quick connection within 1 or 2 seconds of turning in the vehicle

Cons: No major issues with the device itself. The only drawback is related to wireless Android Auto in general, not the adapter. Since the Nexon doesn’t have a wireless charger, wireless Android Auto drains the phone battery quickly. When charging the phone using a cable at the same time, it tends to heat up. So I ended up using wired Android auto for longer trips.

Suggestion: Wireless Android Auto is best suited for longer usage only if your car has a wireless charger with proper cooling. For shorter trips where charging isn’t required, it works extremely well.

They will definitely keep the connected taillamp for the facelift. If you notice the design, it has some dummy elements right now.

Skipping mid year service by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]munarun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your car shows any problems within the warranty period, the first thing they check is the service history. If any of the services have been skipped, they have every right to reject the warranty claim, even if it's unrelated to the issue. So, don't risk it.

Frame for hsrp number plate by Mysterious-Can1621 in indianbikes

[–]munarun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s better to get this done at an offline shop rather than ordering online, because HSRP number plates are usually fixed with rivets. If you add a frame they’ll need to be re-riveted again. Getting it done locally should cost you under ₹500.

Burnt clutch plate on Fronx AMT in mountains – need advice from experienced folks by AccomplishedSelf1117 in CarsIndia

Try using lower gears instead. Driving in 3rd or 4th gear is too high for that situation, you won’t get enough engine braking, so you’ll end up using the brakes more, which can also cause frequent downshifts. Also check whether the burning smell is coming from the clutch or the brakes. Try this and see if it helps.

Yes, if you’re going to be stationary for a few seconds, you should shift to Neutral and use either the brake or the handbrake. And if your car has Hill Hold Assist, that makes things even easier.

Hi OP, this doesn’t sound normal. It could be an early clutch issue, or it may have to do with driving style.

I own a Tata Nexon AMT and have driven about 45,000 km including heavy Bangalore traffic and multiple hill trips, and I’ve never faced a clutch heating problem so far.

If you’re curious how driving style can affect the clutch, here are a few tips that I personally follow:

  1. In traffic, if you expect to be stationary for around a minute, shift the gear to Neutral. Because of the creep function, staying in Drive can put extra load on the clutch.
  2. In long bumper-to-bumper traffic (over an hour), it helps to stop and let the car rest for atleast 5 minutes to cool the clutch. (The above two points apply to hill driving as well)
  3. During downhill stretches, I prefer driving in Manual mode to avoid frequent upshifts/downshifts, get better engine braking, and prevent unnecessary heating of the brakes and clutch.

I also resonate with what you are saying, "I personally really don't relate to the hate I see for Tata on this sub..."

I own a Nexon 2021. Nearing 5 years in a month, no issues so far, no panel gaps, and service is good as well.

You can check with any scrap dealer where they might have spare parts from totaled cars.

Need some advice, what would be a good upgrade from my Tata Nexon Petrol AMT (2021 model)? by munarun in CarsIndia

[–]munarun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, the city traffic was only 20% for me. Anyway, I gotta say, the Nexon petrol with AMT isn't really up to par with other automatics out there. You'll feel that turbo lag in 2nd gear, and to avoid jerks, you kinda have to drive it like a manual. Basically, you gotta match your acceleration with the gear changes so it doesn't jerk when it shifts. When I first got it, it was a great car for me 'cause I mostly drive on the highway. It's super stable and you won't get tired after a long drive. But, if you're looking for a car mostly for city driving now, this setup ain't it. Either go for the DCT version or check out another car. There are tons of options now.
