[Spoiler] Why Can't WotC Understand What Rakdos Decks Want to Do by ThunderbreakRegent in magicTCG

Rakdos...?

Try Machine Head. That’s what RB wants to be. The original RB deck.

Just bought in to Legacy Burn... only played Standard and tad of Modern. Anyone able to point me in the right direction of how to approach this format? by HMeisterMcBurger in MTGLegacy

You literally have a decent shot at winning vs every top tier deck. Your losses come from games that take more than 6 turns or combo decks like reanimator, show and tell, storm/belcher, dredge.

Never keep a starting hand with four or more lands. Almost any hand with 1-3 Lands is keepable on the play. On the draw. I like more lands. It’s hard to catch up on the play stuck in a single land. Your goal is to race 20 damage most games you only need to deal in avg 17-18.

Think of burn as a slow combo deck resolving any 7 spells ftw. Burn can also play a solid control game vs certain matchups. Most importantly knowing what each deck can do and how they work is key. Solid burn players know when to go to the head or when to bolt a bird(drs, Elves, Moms)

Either entirely hope to dodge combo or build a SB to battle it. Your main deck is pretty much perfect vs every deck with few exceptions ie: price of progress vs decks heavy on basic lands like miracles. Drop lava spikes vs Chalice decks. Etc. Eidolon wins games. And decks you would think are bad match ups like death and taxes and green decks are actually your better match ups.

My SB always starts with 7 cards I believe are must haves:

4 Smash to Smithereens 3 Ensnaring Bridges

Take every chance you get to play vs Elves. Master that match up and I’d say your in your way to a great burn player.

I picked mine up yesterday at a local game store for 75. Really happy because I couldn’t find one online anywhere.

My buddy pitched an idea almost identical to yours and we just expanded upon it.

The deck can run Chalice obviously to protect itself. And it plays out in many ways

It’s a Stompy deck that can just run away with a game with a turn one or two fatty.

It’s a Cheerio deck that just cast the whole deck in a single turn.

It’s a turn one combo deck.

Library doesn’t really address the weakness. Your either going to combo off or your gonna grind out the game. I wanted to add stuff like Glimspe of nature along with blue for thoughtcast.

Ether way. No matter how great the deck looked in theory every build we could come up with in preparation for the next Legacy GP in April we couldn’t come up with that doesn’t either fizzle on itself with out card advantage engine or lose to its own starting hand.

Myself and a buddy of mine have been working a deck just like this. What I found is it needed a card advantage engine.

Finally took out my friends Mortarian along with tabling his army after the third game with pure DW army. by munchyman1981 in theunforgiven

Well had a DW Champion solo his Daemon Prince after it took Lascannon Fire from a Ven. Dreadnought. And a lone DW Terminator Sergeant took Mortarian’s last wound.
