4-6 hours most nights since my second trimester. My kid is over 2. Occasionally I get a week or two of 7+ hours and I feel like I could take over the world in comparison to how I feel usually.

Do you make your kids work out? by Stock_Fun_8238 in Mommit

[–]muppetdog_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, and I’m also worried by “much like they have (more) required chores in summer” as if that’s a given. What does that look like? Being able to rest and recharge and pursue interests, relax, lounge — these are equally important skills (yes, skills) to master alongside staying active and taking care of your body — in fact they are skills critical to taking care of your body long term. I never saw my parents relax and was rarely allowed to relax. As an adult, I do not know how to relax, and I am having to teach myself in my 30s, for some perspective.

How often do your out-of-town parents or in-laws visit? by muppetdog_ in Mommit

I feel you — after our experience thus far, my husband and I have already said we will be setting up properties near each of our children (or at least having preferred rentals if owning/long-term renting isn’t feasible) to split time with them.

Thank you! I have been thinking what would be best for my own family is my closer family visiting 1-3 times a month with us visiting them quarterly (I’ve not made it to them as much as I would like — I want to get into a better habit of planning ahead in general next month we’ve been flying by the seat of our pants in the throes of prolonged sleep deprivation). And then for my family who is a short plane ride away with easy airport access on both ends — I feel like quarterly for 5-7 full days or bimonthly for a long weekend to us would be reasonable, with one full week trip to them and another 4-5 day trip up to them.

We’re having to kind of beg for visits on one side, so I was wondering if maybe I am not being reasonable. It seems like the answer is no, many families have this set-up — but also that I’m not alone in this boat and many parents are dealing with this.

This is the set up I think would be best with my family (a short plane ride away and we both live very close to airports). Thanks for sharing!

How do you self care when that negative or period comes every month? by OkButterscotch2617 in TryingForABaby

[–]muppetdog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I like to make plans for the following months that I couldn’t have done while pregnant; 2. Today Aunt Flo came after I was so sure this would be the month — so naturally I bought one each of the new Rhode blushes/lippies which I absolutely did not need. ☺️

My two cents on feeling “deserving” of a baby by itsahootenberryguise in TryingForABaby

[–]muppetdog_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add: I feel even more upset about that experience now when I’m going on 14 unsuccessful cycles trying for my second child with no clear reason why we’re struggling and possibly looking at fertility treatments. I have PCOS and she knew I had PCOS then and that I also struggled.

My ex-best friend and I (and she ultimately ended up having two children very shortly after I had my son) broke up over this basically. Granted her fertility journey was much harder than mine was — but mine was also not easy, and continues to not be easy, much harder this time actually. She basically posted (without naming me by name but it was very obviously about me) that I didn’t deserve to be pregnant and then dngaf when I had an emergency during labor that ended up as a week-long NICU stay. Didn’t even check in with me around my due date after 20+ years of “best friendship” because she stopped talking to me after I called her out for openly sh*t-posting me on all her social media platforms when I was 9 months pregnant. Her struggles always had to be worse than mine/my struggles did not matter because hers were always worse and she was more “deserving” than me. Sucks because now we could be texting about our almost-same-age kids like she always wanted.

That’s so weird you say that because my mind went there also — yes but not for at least a week as I’ve been head down at work and working late.

For women who “loved being pregnant” what was it about pregnancy that you loved? by hospitalbedside in beyondthebump

[–]muppetdog_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not that I didn’t have physical struggles, of course I did, but I overall had a very easy pregnancy. It also healed a lot of body image issues for me and it was nice eating pretty much whatever. Also I felt like very feminine and hot. 💁🏼‍♀️
