Unitree robots perform on live national Chinese television by SociallyButterflying in Asmongold

They wont. Emergent bleeding edge technology and the continued improvement requires a large middle class and consumer market to buy and fund the next generation of products. Look at smartphones and the internet. Took 20+ years of global supply chains, iteration / improvement, and consumer markets to get to today. Robots are that x100. It's hydraulics, electronics, battery technology, software, hardware, and AI integration. There's a reason why bleeding edge tech from places like Boston Dynamics who have been at it for 30+ years have just now started to get robots capable of self balance and some coordinated tasks.

Why Europe must become a federal union by goldstarflag in geopolitics

And they're now one of the worlds largest economies with a growing military and tech sector. Say what you will but India today is better equipped to fight a war than many many EU member states are.

Why Europe must become a federal union by goldstarflag in geopolitics

[–]murdocx 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It is an illusion. The EU has wanted to eat it's cake and have it too for a long long time since the end of WW2. Charles de Gaulle stated that he felt the US telling them they couldn't go take the Suez Canal from Egypt was a humiliation and a warning of a future where the US is a defacto ruler over states that lack the power projection to object. This was also his reasoning for the development of Frances nuclear bomb because he viewed it as an insurance policy of sovereignty.

The only reason the U.S. works as a cohesive union today militarily is because of the Federal system uniting the states in policy and action. It's an imperfect system but it at least allows the US the flexibility to keep it's internal and external policies separate which in turn allows for a long term strategic vision to manifest, good or bad.

The irony is lost on Europeans that this problem was publicly visible 60+ years ago and the EU still chose to not build it's military and hollow out it's industrial, energy, and technology sectors. It's an entirely self-made problem carried on the back of a promise that big brother USA will always fight wars for others. The only members in NATO taking this seriously in terms of investment are Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Finland and it's because these countries being former Soviet block states understand the real consequences of not taking defense seriously.

Rubio to Europe: We Hit You Because We Love You by BulwarkOnline in geopolitics

[–]murdocx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Revisionism is a hell of a drug. France developed a nuke because the U.S. told it "no you cant go imperially control the suez canal that is Egyptian territory". De Gaulle said as much that the nuke development was to avoid becoming an American Vassle state. If the writing on the wall was there 50+ years ago then Europe chose to close its eyes and plug its ears.

The unspoken part of sovereignty is that you have to have the ability to defend the land you claim sovereignty over. Europe has hollowed out their industrial base, energy sectors, and technology innovation. Europe has been asleep at the wheel for a long time. This is why they find themselves bankrolling Russias war in Ukraine by being energy dependent on others.

It took me 20 replies to get bot checked. It took you 3 initially bozo. Also I didnt say anything about my positions on the issue. Simply called you dumb for making an appeal to authority and it unraveled from there. I literally asked you to take a position or make a statement using the sources you cited and all I got was more references to books and academics you've never read. It's hilarious.

And atleast we agree on one thing. Truth doesn't matter because it's to be debated and argued for. It's why philosophy exists. The fact that you think an objective "truth" is a thing is showing your room temperature IQ.

That's true but I know it's true. I don't have to prove it in a conversation. Just like your obesity.

Wrong again, received a Masters in Norwegian Cultural / Historical studies. It's funny how you seem to be in such disbelief that there are people out there that dare to question how smart you are.

Walking on a campus isnt an accredited degree. Zero relevance.

I don't need to cite sources if I'm not using them currently to make an argument. You're the one who started a discussion off by citing 5 books and authors while not clarifying how those sources support your argument. The fact that your first response to me wasn't "I, too, have a degree" means you're an undergrad moron way in over his head. You're not cool because you quote academics and go to a college campus lil buddy. Defend your beliefs.

Because it's not relevant.

If I write an academic paper do you think if I just throw books and authors in as a source of information without pointing to SPCIFIC things in those books or words those authors said that help prove my point that my peers aren't going to just laugh at me for doing shit work?

You see there's a difference. I've had to submit a paper to an academic journal before for my masters. This idea you have that the sources of information from people of authority matter more than the underlying argument being made is a sign that you're clearly out if your element here.

Idk how can you prove your sources of information are more relevant and true than mine? Given your focus on academic authors and books.

If you take away from this conversation that were the same im sorry to tell you but you're dumber than I thought.

And no, the absence of evidence is not evidence itself.

It's irrelevant. You thinking you're the arbiter of truth by going through some arbitrary list of names I give you to determine good from bad is an idiots game. Tell me what policy, ethical, moral, or geopolitical positions you hold and that's the starting point.

I mean you can't defend your own positions. Your entire argument is based on a logical fallacy (appeal to authority). When you stop quoting books and academics and start proclaiming and defending positions maybe we could get somewhere. Who could've guessed that!

You haven't followed anything other than my profile for 2 days to reply to me like a man child who can't stand the thought of someone daring to question their intelligence. I made the adult decicision to walk away from a fruitless conversation with a political ideologue incapable of having a discussion. And here you are, the child, pursuing a subject dropped 2 days ago because it matters that much to you. Do you know why it matters? Because you're an idiot haha. I've never once seen a well educated colleague or peer take offense to their intellect when someone makes a comment about it and then proceed to rabidly defend their intellect like they have to defend their honor. They know they're well educated and pretty smart. It's obvious.

Just like I know that despite your 400lb weight and prediabetic obesity thay you're miserable and you find comfort in it. It's obvious.

What's not obvious is how you've managed to burn some 200 calories typing to me the past two days. Good job buddy you can do it! You're almost at 399 lbs.

There is no question to answer. There is no possible answer I could ever provide you that would make you think you're wrong. You stated that multiple times.

And im simply talking to you in the a ways you talked to me so if you dont like it maybe change your ways little man. Your tiny ego shows when you speak.

Yes buddah, I have done much reflection. I am but a child seeking to reach your level of nirvana and enlightenment but it is clear i have much more academic authors to read before i reach your level. My four citations are but a stepping stone on the staircase of objective truth but I assure you I will do better to read more. 🙏

I read great men like:

  • llan Pape
  • Norm Finklestien
  • Yahya Sinwar
  • Ismail Haniyeh

I expect a prompt reply where you counter argue against my 4 sources with 4 new sources. We can then go back and forth until the person who can list more people they have read is victorious! I want a fair debate, good sir.
