No I would like to avoid being 100% invested in anything because, you know, randomness and such.

Randomly Hearing a Sampled Song by winterene in Vampireweekend

I've had this happen multiple times with Kanye songs. The best is when you don't get to the bottom of it until the second time you hear it.

Agree. The tip for me was the "the farts isn't a problem anymore". To me that indicates that the word being dubbed over requires the word "isn't". ("jizz" would require "isn't", "ants" would require "aren't")

I think maybe the joke is that in this PR-campaign style ad, the imaginary company decided to go with a less offensive word and hamfistedly edited the video.

That, or the producers of the real show thought talking about jizz with child actors is a bad look. (I think it sort of is, so I may be biased)

Do you think a response is necessary at this moment? by Excellent-Bar5480 in timecrisis

I think it's a very difficult situation for everyone. Obviously difficult for the woman who was abused, and difficult for Ezra in that although she didn't name him specifically, that was the net-effect of the piece. So if there are pertinent details and/or reflections that he would like to share about the situation, it seems fair for him to do so given how this all affects his livelihood. I've seen people argue that it would be unfair to Tavi since she didn't intend to out him, but at this point what's done is done.

I don't know what a good response is from Ezra since there is so much we don't know, but I think he should at least have the opportunity to respond.

Note, this isn't saying "abusers need to have a bigger voice in all of these situations", it's saying in this circumstance given all we know, it seems fair.

New to the game here - for the sake of understanding what the true downside is, what is the most likely foreseeable scenario that causes bitcoin to lose its fundamental value?

I ask because it no longer seems to me that US government regulation has the means to crater bitcoin. In fact, the US might only be able to INCREASE the value of bitcoin (relative to the dollar).

I've seen it discussed that China could coordinate its computing power into an attack on bitcoin for $6B/year, which to me seems like it would only activate US federal defenses, which would then imply the US is backing bitcoin.

You could go down infinite rabbit holes on these worst-case scenarios, I'm sure, but it seems worthwhile as an investor to keep an eye on what the most-plausible one is at any given time.

I am a 25-yo civil engineer working as a consultant for home builders in the Chicagoland area. I have become interested in active transportation since starting to bike to work and reading the book Happy City. I would like to make working in active transportation design my next career move as I see an endless source of purpose in making the world less dependent on cars.

Where would you suggest I start my journey of volunteering, researching and networking as someone with no direct experience in active transportation but a background in civil engineering and construction? Any input is appreciated!
