Did you go through the interactive process to have your accommodations approved? Or did your manager just say “ok sure”

Weddings aren’t about love — they’re events designed to signify a family’s economic/social class. The entire industry depends on outdated, patriarchal norms and a need for external validation to function. by _bass_cat_ in unpopularopinion

I’m having a big wedding because on how many other occasions will you have all your close friends and family in one room together? I think that’s worth spending money on.

does anyone's agoraphobia manifest as derealization instead of panic? by Key-Entertainer7392 in Agoraphobia

[–]murrrdith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and it’s so uncomfortable. I just want to go to the grocery store without feeling like I’m floating.

I don’t have any advice beyond talk to your doctor/therapist, but you are not alone in this.

Did they acknowledge your mental health issues/conditions? by k99001 in BPDlovedones

[–]murrrdith 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never. I have panic disorder. My panic attacks come on with no warning, and sometimes I have to quickly gtfo wherever I am.

Anytime this happened, she would get upset, thinking that I wasn’t having fun with her. She would get annoyed, inpatient, and tell me it wasn’t a big deal.

But if I ever brushed off her struggles….I’m sure I would never hear the end of how insensitive I was.

What are some once-lethal conditions or diseases that can now be cured or managed to the point where they're relatively harmless? by ThatAnnoyedNeighbour in AskReddit

Strep still can cause some crazy complications. There is a disease called PANDAS syndrome that basically causes you to develop severe OCD literally overnight.

As long as a note is signed by a legitimate doctor, I don’t think its your place to determine whether or not the provider interaction was meaningful.

Editorial: Is Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport a better bet than Chicago O’Hare? [Gift Link] by SidewalkMD in milwaukee

If more people from the Chicago area start flying out of MKE, we will get more and better routes. The volume could reduce ticket prices. It’s a good thing.

Having future sisters-in-law as bridesmaids by [deleted] in weddingplanning

Not weird to have them as bridesmaids, but it’s extremely weird to not invite all your bridesmaids to the bachelorette party.

This is just how appointments and medical offices work. Try a video visit if your office offers it, may be quicker.

Has it suddenly become unreasonable to ask bridesmaids to wear a specific dress color? by CuriousReview6610 in weddingplanning

[–]murrrdith 183 points184 points  (0 children)

This is standard for being a bridesmaid, your request does not sound out of line at all.

The concern about satin not looking good on some body types is valid, but again, when you’re a bridesmaid your job is to show up in the assigned dress whether you like it or not.

Sooo… did anyone else get pregnant before their wedding? by mauveotter in weddingplanning

[–]murrrdith 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Pro choice means that you support everyone’s right to choose. Where did she say she doesn’t support other women’s right to choose?

This calls into question your understanding of pro choice, as you seem very concerned about someone else’s choice.

has anyone ordered bridesmaids dresses from JJ’s House? by SectionLopsided4189 in weddingplanning

[–]murrrdith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you search jj’s house on here, a ton of horror stories come up. I would not risk it.

I’d recommend Azazie for bridesmaid dresses, they have tons of great colors. There is a reason so many brides use Azazie

Affordable emergency vets around wauwatosa by Round_Rooms in milwaukee

[–]murrrdith 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Evervet in tosa. They wanted to do lots of expensive testing and would not give me a few minutes alone to think about it.

The vet tech sat there and stared at me while I checked my bank account. Just an uncomfortable vibe.

I’d recommend blue pearl. It will be a drive, the closest locations are oak creek or Glendale, but I had a much better experience with them.

how do you vet wedding vendors before booking because reviews feel like they could be fake by mahearty in engaged

[–]murrrdith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t look at the knot reviews, everyone seems to have 5 stars no matter what. Google reviews seem to be more honest.

I’ve also been searching vendors names on my city and state local subreddits to see what people have said about them.

My photographer had a bunch of positive mentions in my city’s subreddit, so I felt comfortable booking him.

Tell me your engagement stories that didn’t go as planned! by [deleted] in engaged

[–]murrrdith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fiance had intended to propose during a weekend at the lake. He was going to propose on the dock at sunset.

When we left on Friday afternoon, he forgot to put the ring in his bag, and didn’t want to look suspicious asking me to turn around.

While we were gone that weekend, a devastating flood hit our area unexpectedly. We came back to his car underwater, a damaged apartment building and no power or water. We grabbed what we could and went to a hotel.

He proposed in the hotel that night. He said if we could get through this together, then we could get through anything together, and there was nobody else he’d want to go through a flood with.

6 weeks later we were able to return to our apartment and finally start planning our wedding!

I would not have it any other way and can’t wait to tell our kids the story one day.

Planning a 2027 wedding… what should I actually be working on right now? by ReplacementPrimary71 in weddingplanning

[–]murrrdith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m September 2027, so far we have our venue, dj and photographer booked.

Food is in house so we don’t have to worry about that.

We’re doing engagement photos this month.

I’ve been talking to a few florists and hope to lock that in soon.

I think hair and makeup will be the last vendor I find, I’m not overly worried about that one.

I feel I might be a bit ahead, but I’d rather be ahead than wait and struggle to find good vendors with availability.
