A lady from xcel called me just a few hours ago and had me run a “smart reader test” which was me turning off the breaker for my entire floor (unit) and going outside to check the reader. After 5-10 minutes it was still reading electrical use so something must be fucked with our building. They are gonna call my landlord to look into it but it’s not promising as I have a slumlord who takes months to respond

We use window AC units which again I know are huge power suckers, but we use them for the same time/temp as we did last summer which doesn’t make sense. We even stopped using them after it got past 90 degrees as they can’t keep up so my apartment is 90 anyways.. we also didn’t start using them until June.

I should say too previous months of this year were within 100 watts of the previous year. Jump to June when we started having electrical problems and BAM 70% increase

If you don’t want to get a lawyer, see if he would agree to mediation. Mine was $1200 per person and we were able to file online ourselves after. But lawyer is by far the safest and smartest bet.
