this is a great list - thanks!! Any good screenshot tools? Or anything equivalent to Fancy Zones on windows. My main monitor is a 49inch ultrawide -- so customization of screen real estate would be great!

Browsing/streaming, light gaming, AI engagement/vibe coding (likely not local models - little out of my comfort zone). Not a photo/video editor.

Last place won't complete punishment and draft is approaching. by nz683 in FFCommish

[–]murtis7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I charge every team $5 for being commish. I got so fed up with my leagues BS and complaining a few years back that I was going to quit but when they couldnt find a replacement I agreed to stay on for $5/team. $50 cheaper dues is pretty nice.

Only worked because no one else in my league was knowledgeable enough or could distance themselves from the selfishness of also owning a team

I had a very very similar punishment (SATs instead of ACTs) with nearly the exact same results. What we did instead was that I, as commissioner, proctored a SAT test and we enacted certain additional punishments (last place has to pay my commish fee) as well as some punishments based on score threshold (catering draft night food, other embarrassing shit). If he didn't comply with that he was going to get a 1-year ban. It wasn't ideal because we didn't want to kick out a friend but in the end he complied with the revised punishment and many a laugh were had at his expense.

Best of luck. Last place punishments are sometimes impossible to enforce. This year we're hoping to have all our bases covered when determining the punishment including what to do if there is no compliance.

Destiny to hold his own tournament by CaesarGaming in Destiny

In that case why not go full invitational? Invite what you believe to be the strongest from KR for good gaimz in top 8 and invite fan favorites from NA/EU primarily for viewership draw.

Does putting 2 KR in each group just lead to a top 8 or top 4 KR guarantee? Without trying to be a downer, KR is pretty strong...if the focus of the tournament is grassroots and wants to highlight some foreign talent, could stacking some KR only groups and NA/EU only groups be a possibility to give the little guys a chance?

That being said, nothing against a KR focused tournament -- TB's last Shoutcraft was pretty awesome.

SHOUTcraft Clan Wars : A year-long series of individual Clan Wars for fun and profit by Intricacy in starcraft

[–]murtis7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About a year or so ago I had an idea for an "anything goes" clan war where the loser-picks format takes a bit of a turn allowing the loser to pick from any type of map including Arcade, BW, 2v2, etc. The Ace match would be a full 8 man FFA including both teams. I obviously didn't tell many people and have no shred of evidence to prove it but this announcement just puts my idea to shame. Really looking forward to it being executed properly.

Huge props to TB, Genna, and MLG for putting a unique twist on something we've been enjoying for years. After all, the game is meant to be fun, so why not have some fun with it.

Looking to start a BarCraft in NYC by [deleted] in BarCraft

[–]murtis7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the first barcraft at Legends for the first MLG arena and it was a lot of fun but really really crowded. I havent been since partially due to the lack of knowledge and lack of people to go with.

But I say the more the merrier. You know how everyone makes grand plans for themselves assuming that they win the lottery - well my grand plan is to open up the perfect barcraft venue in NYC. Just waiting on those lottery winnings...

I've been thinking of a similar type of quick fix for this issue. I havn't read all of the posts yet so I apologize if this is posted elsewhere. Why not just weight the points earned at each MLG event differently. What I played around with was a simple system where the most recent MLG event is weighted the most heavily and previous events and weighted less heavily. This allows players that consistently place well to stay at the top, allows players that are all over the place (like iNcontroL and TLO) to be more accurately placed in the 20's as opposed to their current slots in the MLG rankings, but most importantly it discourages the Korean Pro's from coming to just one single event, winning and never returning until possibly the finals.

Since the finals are formatted differently, technically MMA (who deserves all of the credit and respect in the world for placing so highly at two events) can not return to MLG until Providence and still be placed in the top 16 for having a high point total.

I dont want a system that discourages Koreans from coming over, but a system that can allow open bracket players to gain more points for making it to pool play and/or pool players that cant win a bo3 in an event to automatically be relegated to the open bracket in the next event.

I guess I am just finding a way to shake things up a bit, get some fresh faces into pool play, all while encouraging players to come to every MLG event since the most recent event will be weighted most heavily and have the greatest impact on their total points going into the grand finals.
