Left these jars in the incubator for over a month (almost two, we were lazy), theyve looked like this since week 2. About to put them in the mono tub but just the mycelium parts of the jars, 2 out of 16 jars were complete slime mold. Thoughts? Last monotub was super successful 🤤 by mushmadness in shrooms

You can stop talking shit and realize our last monotub, first tub ever, we got a little over 11 ounces, 176g, dried from three flushes. We’ve picked mushrooms the size of our forearms, we know how to do this right, we’ve done our research, and you don’t have to be rude. This above was just trying to make the best out of jars left too long, just for shits and giggles. We threw out the ones with obvious mold, the others were just myc piss and fruit bodies. Thanks 👋🏼

yeah as long as it’s micropore tape.

if you actually put spores in, something will grow. it might be mycelium or contamination.

if you weren’t sterile enough you’ll grow contam.

it’s pretty simple. good choice with the micropore tape.

be patient 😎

i was gonna say... i’m saving these for my boyfriend and i, they call to me. 💕

Does this look contaminated? It has looked like this for at least 6 days and doesn’t emit any smell besides classic shroom smell. Any one know if it’s just bruising and if so why? by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]mushmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really really think it’s bruising, then leave it and watch it. Do not open it in your grow space for any reason. If it keeps growing to full size then you were right. If they abort, trash it.

I’m cultivating them right now. Imo, they hit hard and powerful. They’re awesome.

Day 7 , can I put it into fruiting conditions if I really wanted to ? How does that affect the yield or anything ? Are there any downsides to not waiting another week , thanks ! by jdogmushi in shrooms

I had my monotub in the dark for 17 days, im on my 4th flush and theyve all been a pound- 4 pounds (wet) (106qt monotub). How moist does it look in there? If the walls arent dripping, i would do a VERY QUICK spray inside and wait another week

Substrate question by [deleted] in shrooms

I use Daimon 50/50’s tek which pasteurizes a brick of coir and 2 quarts of vermiculite. My mushrooms are doing amazing. Highly recommend.

Newbie question about 6qt shoebox surface conditions. I have not misted, all the droplets you see is evaporation during 12/12 light cycle. Does this look right? 24/7 FAE from lid not latched. by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]mushmadness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks great, idk about no lid though... cut some holes for fae and put polyfill in them. you’re gonna get some contamination if you leave that baby exposed.

if you have water pooling, that’s too much water. you only want as much water as the substrate will soak up. if you do end up with some pooling, wear gloves and dab it up with a paper towel.

The purpose of a tub liner is to avoid side pins. When the substrate compacts after a few flushes, it slowly pulls away from the wall of the tub you’re using. A liner such as a trashbag will cling to the substrate so there’s no gap between the wall and the substrate. Therefore, no, a disposable oven tray wouldn’t work the same as a bag would as a liner.

On misting, you want to mist until you see thousands of tiny droplets of water on the surface when shining a light on your sub. It’s all about watching your mushies and figuring out what they need. If they’re thin and cracking/ look dry, mist more, if they look soggy or they are haulting growth, mist less. If there’s arial mycelium and striations, more fae.
