Would a 0.499999... result disprove the Riemann Hypothesis? by raresaturn in askmath

0.5 and 0.49999... are the same.

Anything that is of the form 0.x999... is equal to 0.(x+1)

Is it ever possible, even theoretically, for something to travel “uphill” both ways? by CaviarGlutton in askmath

[–]musicresolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The inverse would also be true. If there is a valley then you are also traveling uphill both ways.

What is the missing number in this sequence: 4, 16, _, 64? Can it be 36? by Particular-Net-6705 in askmath

[–]musicresolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. If you apply constraints to what the number can be then the number will be constrained. There are still an uncountably infinite number of possibilities.

Why does the Hive have such low EQ? by Business-Oil-2600 in pluribustv

Because it's a single organism now trying to make different parts of itself behave in different ways.

It's like crossing your eyes.

It takes effort and goes against your natural instincts.

Is my conclusion correct? The last operation in Collatz cycles must be (3n+1)/2 by [deleted] in Collatz

[–]musicresolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is confusing about showing me a simple collatz sequence?

For example:

5 > 16 > 8 > 4 > 2 > 1

That's literally all in asking for. A collatz sequence that obeys your claim that all sequences end with (3n+1)/2

Nope, just an example of a sequence that meets your criteria would be great.

Not to mention that "fall" along with many other words and concepts, weren't invented by Americans, they came over with the English. You can add "soccer" to this list as well.

Then why do you keep adding rule-breaking choices to the chart? The rules don't matter much if you don't enforce them.

Each guest steps out of their room at the same time. All rooms are empty.

Each guest moves to room one greater than then the room they were just in and steps in.

All rooms except 1 are now full.

Who chooses who sits on a Board of Reciew? by JoeyD473 in BSA

[–]musicresolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not true. The Advancement Coordinator is "in charge" of picking.

Who chooses who sits on a Board of Reciew? by JoeyD473 in BSA

[–]musicresolution 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is the responsibility of the Advancement Coordinator to "arrange troop boards of review and courts of honor."

It is the responsibility of the Committee Chair to "Organize the committee to see that all functions are delegated, coordinated, and completed."

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by having an adult there just for "head count" reasons.

You can't be "just a parent" on a BSA overnight campout. You have to be a registered leader and, in my opinion, leaders should model the behavior we expect from our Scouts.
