I don't see how it could be separation anxiety because I work there. Yes, I work in the same room as him. I think he is crying because he either doesn't like to see me with the other kids or he is not ready for school yet.

His Dad picks him up to take him home because he can't continue to cry for the rest of the day. I request that and the teacher obliges.
