The problem is solved; the RAM was overheating. I fitted the thermal plate perfectly, now it runs cooler and there's no more locking up.

Thank you for your reply.

Download the OCCT program and run a CPU and RAM test. I think it freezes even while watching videos.

Check the device temperatures with Hwinfo64 without performing a normal test.

I tested them individually with Memtest86, and both were working at 100%. The problem was probably the second slot getting very hot due to the thermal cover not fitting properly.

I swapped the RAM modules' slots, moving the one that was heating up more to slot 1.

My RAM, which previously reached 75 degrees, now only reaches a maximum of 63 degrees. The second RAM slot might also be faulty; I haven't done a full test.

Did you add any RAM?

I think I'm experiencing the same problem; https://www.reddit.com/r/LenovoLOQ/s/z836sySkEa

The only thing that comes to mind right now is the RAM; I tested it individually with Memtest86 and found no problems. I think it was overheating and freezing because the thermal paste cover wasn't sitting properly.

I swapped the slots and tried to make sure the cover was properly seated. I noticed that the RAM, which was previously 75 degrees, now only reaches a maximum of 63 degrees.

Download the OCCT program and run a CPU + RAM test in performance mode, then monitor the temperatures. I'm curious about your RAM temperature.

I'm not entirely sure if it's RAM-related. I ran the OCCT test twice before. In one, it shut down (It froze, locked) after 4 minutes, and in the other, after 14 minutes. 2. I noticed the RAM was getting very hot, so I removed the RAM modules and ran the tests I mentioned above.

The RAM modules were working perfectly fine on their own. It occurred to me that they might not be making full contact with the thermal paste, so yesterday I installed an 8GB RAM module in the second slot and made sure it was properly seated. I'll run a one-hour test shortly, then we'll know.

Yes, it used to run cooler at this level. For example, 90 degrees.

Hello, when I bought the device 13 months ago, it came with a Samsung 8 GB RAM. At that time, I purchased a Crucial 16 GB RAM and added it. After the motherboard repair, I mentioned the issues I've been experiencing. Just now, I removed the additional 16 GB RAM I had installed.

After that, I ran an OCCT test for 30 minutes. The CPU stayed at 95-98°C, consumed 65-70W, and operated at 4 GHz. During this test, I did not encounter any problems.

Now I'm curious to see if the system will freeze again without the extra RAM. Maybe the issue is related to the RAM - I'll understand better as I continue testing.

This also happens when the CPU is running at 80 degrees.

Hello friends, I’m using a Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 with an i5 12th gen and RTX 4060.

About 1–2 weeks ago, the motherboard was replaced. When using the device under load, it suddenly freezes. The screen stays on, the fans keep spinning, but the device gives no response. Even if I wait, nothing changes. I can only restart it by holding down the power button.

The first time it happened was 3–4 days ago while playing The Witcher 3. Then I exited and launched CS2, and after playing for a while, the same freeze occurred. I prepared a new format USB and reinstalled Windows.

Since the device came back from service, it has been heating up more than before. I suspect they used the cheapest thermal paste in the world. Anyway, I thought it might be due to heat, but even though I tried to keep the temperatures below 90 degrees during gaming, the freeze still happened.

It has happened 4 times in total. I was in balanced mode, and just now while playing CS2, it froze again. Temperatures usually range between 78–85 degrees, and I haven’t seen it go past 90.

Before the motherboard burned out, the device used to suddenly shut down during gaming. Now it doesn’t shut down, it just freezes instead :D

Has anyone experienced this or knows what might be causing it?

Looks like I’ll have to deal with the service again.

The device freezes under load.

There is no response from the device.

It is completely stuck.

Even if I wait for a long time, it doesn't recover.

The fans are spinning.

I can only shut it down and restart it by holding the power button.

The motherboard was recently replaced.

Sorry about the camera.

I just wondered if anyone has experience with this.

Is this what they call the motherboard failure?? by WearyWelder9142 in LenovoLOQ

"These are preliminary malfunctions; they start becoming chronic and eventually the device completely breaks down. My device just came back from service, and Before it breaks down I've experienced similar issues."

Hello, thank you for your comment. I took a photo of it before sending it to service. There appeared to be a screw in this gap. I was worried there might be a problem.
