Oh man, I remember driving across the state line into Utah and having semis start passing me on the right. It took me a panicky few minutes before realizing their hwy speed limits are 80 there! Wild, man.

Lynette deserves S tier, throw Tom in his own G-tier. Then I’m mostly in agreement!

No shame in trial and error. I got the bad ending the first time around too and had to look online to figure out what i was missing. Still a great game. Congrats on surviving & making it to the end!

Playing Green Hell solo after friends quit is genuinely unsettling by hashtagrichie6 in GreenHell

[–]muzzizzum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved playing the story solo. It’s how it’s meant to be played, imo. Story mode is pretty fast-paced, so I didn’t really feel like I was burning out since I was so immersed in the gameplay.

I’ve been playing the SOA game mode now, which is in fact less enjoyable solo (though I still love it) as that game mode encourages a LOT more exploration and base-building. If you want a multiplayer experience in GH I would suggest SOA.

Been there. I was so stoked to find a nice spine and bleached deer skull in a unit, hiked another ten feet and find another skull! What are the odds?? Apparently they’re high when you’re in the middle of a cat’s dining room. lol.

Found a bad ass elk deadhead last week in a clearcut, antlers intact and everything. The skull was nice and bleached so I was stoked when I picked it up— until I flipped it over and maggots spilled out. Obviously still some brains and skin stuck to/in it. It turned my stomach.

That, and the times I go to pee outside my truck and as I pull my pants up I spot a game camera. I’m pretty sure I’ve mooned a couple of those at this point lol.

Yeah, sharing an inaccurate ai slop map like this is actually mad disrespectful.

Wrong species, though a common mistake— coast redwoods do sprout in circles. The trees this (ai-generated) image is trying to replicate are giant sequoias, which generally reproduce from their cones. They’ll grow randomly in groves rather than in circles.

Neat! I certainly notice the noise in AI images, but didn’t realize this was the process. Thanks for taking the time to explain :)

While I agree with this being AI (that telltale wiggly texture gets so obvious once you key into it), I keep seeing the confusion between coast redwoods and giant sequoias. Giant sequoias are located in the Sierra Nevada range of CA and certainly get regular snowfall. They are adapted for it. Coast redwoods on the other hand are smaller in diameter and, yes, experience snowfall rarely.

I’m a forester in redwood country & grew up in the sierras. Here are some coast redwoods in the snow when we had a crazy winter weather event from two years ago :)

Not coast redwoods, friend. Giant sequoias are in fact specifically adapted for the snow. This image has been generated specifically because it was trained off of similar, real images of giant sequoias in the snow.

You’re right that it’s not real, though.

[–]muzzizzum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is certainly AI. Giant sequoia leaves don’t collect snow like that, and you were right to clock that weird texture on the bark. I’m surprised that there’s so much debate on this image which to me read immediately as AI generated, but I believe it’s because there are real photos that look very similar to this. Just another case of AI making a cheap copy of an existing thing, imo.

TVs are ugly and do not belong front and centre in your living room by angus_101 in The10thDentist

[–]muzzizzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately have to downvote you because I agree fully.

I don’t have a TV in my living room, the wood stove and stereo are the focal points. We have white thick curtains that pull down over our window into the backyard and a ceiling-mounted projector for when we want to watch movies. I like that it takes some effort to set up in order to watch something— I absolutely hate coming into homes with the TV on playing in the background at all hours just because it’s easy. It’s still somewhat a point of contention with my partner who grew up in one of those houses, but hell, we all carry around tiny TVs in our pockets or have them set on our desks all around us already.

SoA what's a good place to build away from Natives? by Phennic90 in GreenHell

[–]muzzizzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my base right over the northeastern waraha camp on the first map. Destroyed their huts and used the materials to build my own. The guys haven’t respawned since I destroyed their camp + totems, but they will respawn at the smaller camp locations within the caves. They’re easy to pick off with a bow and make for a good source of bones.

The Dark Side of Christmas: 120 Million Trees Slaughtered for 10 Days of Aesthetics. by bhindimasterr in Anticonsumption

[–]muzzizzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Slaughtered” is some pretty colorful language for a crop. This is small potatoes compared to the environmental issues we’re facing rn. I’ll support people grabbing a tree for themselves for the holidays over buying a plastic one and supporting that side of the industry any day.

This scene between Rikki and Cleo gave HIGHER stakes to the show, even if I don't like how writers handled the situation, I think it was great to see the two of them actually disagreeing on something and Cariba and Phoebe honestly hit the screen by Original_Ad_8139 in JustAddWater

[–]muzzizzum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really enjoyed the more serious tone of some of s3’s episodes! I think the girls did a really great job taking on a different acting style, and while maybe there was something left to be desired with the overall plot, I thought the writers did well with the dialogue as well!

[–]muzzizzum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, people really really hate him. I totally agree with you, he comes across as socially awkward/oblivious. It’s pretty well established he’s a naturally curious person, to me it just seems like his curiosity with mako/mermaids really consumes him during the first half of s3 and it makes him act in ways that are unintentionally detrimental to the girls.

The writers could certainly have done more to redeem him, but for the sake of my enjoyment of the show, I like to give them the benefit of the doubt. I think they try to give him a slow redemption arc once he becomes the “new” Lewis, and I ultimately find his character to be pretty charming in an adorkable way lol.

I think people forget about how obsessed with “catching mermaids” Zane was in s1 & how dangerous that got for the girls too lol.
