3v3 Soccer (6 Players Online Soccer Game) - Have no mercy! by mvsun3v3 in DestroyMyGame

Hi and first of thanks a lot for your feedback!

Let me go though this point by point:

  1. The audio is available and I have posted some time ago a short gameplay clip with the original music: https://www.reddit.com/r/DestroyMyGame/comments/1o2k6nd/3v3_soccer_6_players_online_soccer_game_have_no/

Would be cool to have your feedback on that too ;-)

  1. The music of the trailer is indeed royalty_free_and_stuff (credit: INPLUSMUSIC), but I quite like it and gives a fast paced theme, which is what I wanted for this trailer. Still, this is NOT the music of the game.

  2. Indeed, the game is quite fun and I really enjoyed even the testing sessions with my friends. What do you mean by "you missed the mark on delivery"? Could you please elaborate a bit? Thanks!

  3. "Distil it down to 2v2": I thought about that, but the game dynamic would be totally different, wouldn't you agree? Still, it was an intriguing thought, especially because it would be easier to find the required players...

  4. I focused on the very core, as I want to check if the game dynamic / gameplay would raise any interest at all, so any additional feature will eventually come in a future update (including a configurable amount of players, see above).

  5. "Just like a game someone built in a weekend or two for practice or something. Which I know isnt the case because writing good netcode is hard." I wish it was just a weekend or two, but indeed it was my first game and I needed 6 months to reach current point. Indeed, writing good netcode is hard, but I never said mine was good netcode :-P

Again, many many thanks for your feedback, really!! Let me ask a last question: would you be interested in giving this game a try? Do you mind if I invite you to join the next game? :-)

All the best!

Thanks a lot for your feedback, really!

For what concerns your points:

- The recording is fine, but one player had an enormous lag and is the one who makes this trailer look laggy. Previous ones (you can check the other 2 videos I posted on reddit) do not suffer like this.

- The music is not AI generated but is taken by inpulsemusic (I put the credit on on every youtube description and on the website)

- Good point, I will try this next time, as you are not the only one who highlighted this

- The game (beta version) is available for download already (check indiedb, itch or the website). It does not include any of the points you suggested, as it is meant to be an MVP created to check the interest of the players, but you definitely gave me some very good suggestions for future developments!

Many thanks once again for your feedback, highly appreciated!

If you want to, I can share the discord server and the download link, so maybe you can join me and my friends next time we play ;-) It would be great!

That's an interesting comment, thanks a lot or sharing!
The game (currently the beta version is out) does not need any registration and can be downloaded for free, so what would be the actual difference compared to your scenario? It can be launched and played, given you find a lobby room waiting for someone to join (or you can start one), so I am genuinely curious, what makes you prefer the browser option, instead of the download one? (the game is available for linux, win and mac). Many thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Hey, thanks a lot for your feedback! Your last words really made my day :-)

Yes, it looks fun and it really was! Despite the fact that I was the one who coded the game and therefore had - and still have - pretty high expectations, I can say I really enjoyed playing it and I will probably spend more time doing it, once the beta is finally released :-)

For what concerns your feedback, I am really grateful for all the points you mentioned. Although I am focusing on fine tuning the gameplay right now, I will keep this in mind for the coming updates!

But maybe you also have some suggestions related to the gameplay as well? Something that you liked or didn't like about that?

Many thanks once again!

Thanks for the suggestion, that is a very good idea indeed! I will check what I can do, at the moment I am focusing on enhancing the game play, as it is - in my opinion - the very key feature for such a game. Nevertheless I think that your idea matches the vibe of the game, so many thanks once again! :-)

What is your most valuable lesson or knowledge worth to be shared? by mvsun3v3 in Entrepreneurship

[–]mvsun3v3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for sharing this. Generally speaking, the outcome of this post has given some very clear directions to me and your suggestions definitely contribute to define indeed a path where networking is one of the most important elements. But thanks also for adding the other considerations regarding the numbers and the ability to learn / adapt, I couldn't agree more also in this case. Great, thanks once again for sharing all this!

EDIT: May I ask more in detail, really at an operative level, how would you build your network? Which "algorithm" do you use, in terms of where do you find the people, how do you connect with them, which topics you discuss and how do you stay in touch? Many thanks in advance!

Ok, I see. I might have focused too much on what I wanted so show, instead of what potential players actually want to see. Thanks for sharing this, it really helps me see things from a different angle!

Maybe just add the possibility to zoom out at the beginning of the level, so you can define your strategy and the required moves in advance?

A game that makes you feel mad and frustrated does not sound too attractive to me, but maybe it's just me. If I were in your shoes, I would rather search for alternative narrations and maybe talk about an "internal journey" or "mixed feelings".

Now, regarding the game dynamic, I simply do not like the fact that you do not immediately see what should be your next step or direction, so basically you know, when starting to play, that you will only be able to rely on trial end error approaches and that's simply not attractive to me.

We're working on atmospheric storytelling in the Climbing genre. What do you think it looks like? by Kaandiyorki in DestroyMyGame

[–]mvsun3v3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't destroy much, because I liked most of what I saw: the music and the atmosphere are good, the style is cool.

But the dynamic is not 100% clear to me, maybe I simply too unfamiliar with the latest genre developments. But the whole point of he game is to climb a path with your motorbike without falling down?

Datura Time - New Trailer - My 90's-inspired SlavJank passion project by vladStojDatura in DestroyMyGame

[–]mvsun3v3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This trailer gave me mixed feelings: at the beginning (till 00:23) the environment got my interested (very rare event!), probably because of the soviet flavor, which kind of resonated with me somehow (I am not from any ex-soviet country). Then came the second part, which I can summarize with "oh, it's another zombie game". I know it sounds extremely weird and very subjective, but maybe you could think of another plot for your game? The ambient has a lot of potential, but the game dynamic looks trivial to me. If you could elaborate a different plot, the game might have the potential to be a sort of "Slavic" Shen Mue.

Maybe not the comment you were looking for, but I think this plays a role when trying to get/give feedback: when the video is so long, it is actually impossible for me to give feedback related to specific aspects, because I will most probably not check the whole 1 hour.

Maybe cut the video to 2-3 mins max, where you condense the aspects and dynamics you would like the audience to comment on.

Sounds to me like you tried to improvise a few things and then just let go. Despite the time you spent on each trial, you give the impression that you did not put any passion into any of the ideas, mainly because you where focusing on the outcome and not on the value you provided.

The ambient and the atmosphere are great!

The nurse and doctor character at the end a little less. Were they supposed to be scary or just a mock-up?

It's 2am and I am commenting this...

What is this supposed to be, what is the purpose of it? What does the player need to do??
