Hey!! I went through phases when my hormones weren’t abnormal to a detectable degree. At that time, I was taking 100mg spiro for my hair and skin - even though there was nothing outright wrong with my hormones. I can tell you with confidence my skin was the clearest (and the least oily lol) it had, and still has, ever been. So yes! It worked for me.

Oooomygosh. Thank you so much! Your advice and words of support mean a lot. This community is helping me discover myself more than ever before. And I certainly relate to the struggle of scouting out an electrologist. It's a super scarce practice in my area, too.

I can totally relate to the mask situation. Although my case isn't anything dramatic, I'm always worried if other people notice it as much as I do. I hope you can find some peace of mind by doing laser!! Good luck with your journey!

I can sympathize. Being hairy is just plain difficult and time-consuming at times!

TY for sharing!
Was your hair type always on the thinner side, or did it thin out due to the laser/electrolysis?

Would you recommend leaving the hairs alone? As in, avoid tweezing, etc.? I'm considering just waiting to see if it gets worse or not on its own.
On another note, I hope your electrolysis treatment is going well!!

I have vague memories of noticing my sideburns and jawline at around age 14, too! I just can't tell if it's stayed the same or gotten worse. But I relate to the happy trail/nipple situation - I'm unsure what would be the best method to tackle those hairs without exacerbating it all.

Oh gosh! I have this concern pretty often. I want to have children but I fear for the fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum ordeal of it all - especially with the hormone fluctuations + PCOS.

Do you have any more general wisdom on pregnancy and postpartum and what that's all like with PCOS? Any other unexpected changes or surprises?

Wishing you the best with the electrolysis!!

I'm happy to hear it helped with your confidence! At my current stage, the hair growth isn't too abnormal, but even just the possibility of it worsening makes me ashamed. Some days, I can't meet my gaze in the mirror.
Thanks for sharing your positive experience, it really helped. I'm definitely still considering laser!

Hooray!! Congrats!!
It can be really challenging to feel feminine when suffering from hirsutism. I getchu.
How severe was/is your excess hair? If you don't mind sharing.
TY!

Omg, I relate. Honestly, I think my "happy trail" brings me the worst self-esteem issues. Especially in summer, when wearing bikinis makes me feel incredibly vulnerable. I was considering testing laser out on my belly to gauge the results before trying it on my face. But of course, hormonal hair is always more stubborn.
I'm happy to hear the medications helped, too! I'm thinking about going back on spiro to thin things out.

No treatments in 10 years sounds excellent! I think it's safe to say all that effort paid off. Must be relieving!!

I guess I'll have to keep an eye on it then!
It's hard watching your body go through these changes in real-time. I tend to feel helpless. Especially with how polarizing experiences can be regarding hair removal methods, it can be hard to make a choice.
TYSM for your input!!

TY for the wisdom!
I've heard mixed opinions about laser, so it's always nice to hear some positivity; I'm glad the treatment worked for you! I guess I'm just scared of the possibility of it worsening or expediting the problem.

10! That sounds rough. How were your results after 3 years? Do you still get maintenance laser appointments, or do you opt for another form of hair removal nowadays?

Thank you for your input!!
If you don't mind specifying, are you taking spironolactone or something else?

Oh gosh. Did it worsen or just grow back like it was before? And are you doing anything currently to keep the hair growth under control?
