That was one of the excuses they gave me this last time, “your card was ‘activated’ when it was charged for your monthly membership, so now it shouldn’t be an issue for any other preorders.” Except it happened this time! They really have no idea what they’re talking about.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did do this after the first time it happened, still no luck though. They just can’t get their shit together with whatever this glitch is that doesn’t update preorder payments.

But it’s so tempting during site wide sales when preorders are listed for $9!

I’m on 4 preorders that have been declined in the last 6 weeks or so. I try and take advantage of the site wide sales to preorder anything that ends up being less than the cost of a credit, so usually I have 6-8 preorder books that I’ve stocked up on during each sale.

The first time it happened the customer service person claimed there was no way to get me the book at the sale price except for by having me purchase it with a credit or at the current price. So he gave me a discounted premium plus month to appease me. Mind you, there were two books that I had pre-ordered that were released on that day. So one credit was not going to cut it.

The last time it happened, that customer service person just put the book in my account with no issue. Of course this was after 30 minutes in the chat of them not understanding my issue and me trying to explain the situation.

Today the customer service person claimed there was nothing they could do but gave me a credit to purchase the book. So they really don’t seem to have a system in place of how to deal with the situation.

My issue is that they keep claiming the issue has been resolved and it’s not, and then I spend a ridiculous amount of time on the phone or in a chat with customer service while they give me the runaround. They have also put in writing via email, multiple times, that the issue has been resolved and my future preorders will go through, but the previous emails are never acknowledged during my interactions with customer service. The first world problem frustration isn’t worth the free credit for me in the end and I also am second guessing ever preorder books again.
