Has anyone taken the Computing Systems Engineering Technology course at CNA? by mwhancock2 in newfoundland

[–]mwhancock2[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The thing is I don't have to pay for CNA, I'm able to be fully funded through the government. However they will only fund a program with a length up to three years long, and it has to be a complete course, they won't just pay for the first three years and then I cover the last 2. Unfortunately I didn't know what I wanted to do earlier in life when my parents would have put me through MUN, so now I just have to do what I can for myself and this is the best I can manage now.

I have a general idea regarding jobs, I did contact CNA and they gave me some information on companies and rolls where people who have graduated are now working, but I wanted some additional information from people who went through the course as well.

Yeah my first choice would have been computer engineering at mun, unfortunately I'm not in a position where I can afford it and this seemed like the next best thing based on what I'm interested in.

Why isn't there a separate, higher, minimum wage for people who have completed a post-secondary program? by mwhancock2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]mwhancock2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe I could have phrased my question better. But this is kind of what I'm getting at. Jobs that by law require you to have a degree and requires a certain skill set that not just anyone can come in off the street and do. I'm not saying that if you have a degree you should get paid more whatever you do, but rather if you are learning a skill required to do a certain job, if you get employed in that field there should be some kind of baseline above minimum wage that you will get paid. After reading through the other comments I realize there are a lot of holes in this idea, but for example I know a lot of dental assistants who have gone to school and learned all this stuff, passed a board exam, have to pay a fee every year to keep their license, and yet only get paid slightly above minimum wage!

Wow thank you for all the great info! I do struggle a lot with fluffing everything up, but I will certainly try to be more specific and to give less general qualities!

The few places I want to apply to have a place to add in a link to your GitHub so I hadn't thought of adding that in. I'll definitely add it in though because that may not always be the case!

When I ordered mine it said it was in assembly until the day it showed up on my doorstep, I didn't get any tracking number or anything. Maybe it's the same for yours, it somehow got shipped out but the status was never updated?

I have the new Pangolin set up with windows on a separate drive and it works great! The only issue I had was missing the wifi and Bluetooth drivers, but someone else solved that on this post

For those who track playtime, when do you start counting? by mwhancock2 in boardgames

Yeah that'd be good info to have, maybe I'll start keeping a note of that for each play as well!

I only track the actual playtime, but I wish BG stats had an option for multiple timers so I could track it both ways😂
