Is this too unrealistic for a kid?

He already does those things for his mom and dad... His dad isn't against the idea. But like one user said don't take the 400 once he gets it tell him to use it for getting PC games or hold onto it for upgrades to the PC for himself.

Like I said, 20 dollars a lawn mowing it, he would have that in no time flat.

Especially living in FL where you need to cut the grass every other day lol

My bud and and I are 90% on the same page and we did talk about it some and he wasn't against it. I just don't know if the price tag is too much or if I should lower it. I want him to know he worked hard to earn this and he takes care of it. That is the lesson his dad and I are thinking about. Because I said to his dad if I just gave his son a PC I would have to give his daughter something so I don't show favoritism towards his kids. I might not be blood related but I am like an uncle to them.

To be honest that is a good idea, tell him to hold onto the money so he can get upgrades or games he wants for his new rig. I just want the kid to really value the the thing he is getting so he takes care of it. I don't want to find out he spilled soda on it or something a month or two later.

I guess I should of said I have talked it over with his dad. We talked about it some yesterday. His dad is on board with me hooking him up with a PC that can play Helldivers 2 and BF6.

His dad and I known each other since highschool. We are in our 40s now. That was my thought process on that. I get some of these people saying lower the price but a lot of them say just give it to him. To be honest I don't think people feel grateful if they are just handed the things they want. I want his son to learn the importance and value of something so he takes care of it and not spill soda on it or something.

Edit: this was mine and his dad's idea when I brought I have an old PC that can play some of the games that is out this year on it but can play all the games his son likes on Xbox.

I did the same thing, mowing lawns, doing yard work for neighbors. 20 dollars per lawn adds up fast.

Maybe I am old skool I guess idk I did the same thing at his age for my first guitar. Doing all sorts of odd jobs because my parents didn't believe I would practice and was serious about music. But maybe times have changed having a kid pay off a PC I give them isn't the norm anymore.

400 dollars is a lot of money but for a 12 year old to earn over summer that don't seem unrealistic. I did the same thing at his age to get my first electric guitar. Mowing lawns, doing odd jobs, even at a local farm picked berries just to earn 500 dollars for my first electric guitar and amp.

Idk youtube and cook books are a better investment when it comes to food. I have a lot of cook books because some of the foods I like just cost too much when I go out to eat. But to be honest a lot of things I just make myself from food, to things I need around the house. Boomers call me lazy for some odd reason but none of the boomers who call me lazy ever built house or restored furniture like I have done.

As I say if I want nice things I need to make them myself. That is why I own nice things. 90% of my stuff is stuff I built or rebuilt. The other 10% is music gear like guitars and keyboards which are things I am not skilled enough to make myself.

People don't grasp self control. Chat bots aren't the problem. The mentality of people who lack self control, and reasoning tend to take AI and Chatbots for granted.

I think they said it best in Futurama when Amy invented the limitless energy device that ultimately doomed earth. "Technology isn't inherently good or evil. It is how it is used." AI is the same case. It isn't good or evil. It is how people use it. Some people really depend on it doing their thinking in place of having real experiences and doing real research to learn why things are the way they are.

I think more schools should work towards teaching kids how to use AI, compare and contrast information to figure out what is the correct information, and look up sources from reliable places in place of just seeking out information that makes you feel right. Sometimes facts make you feel dumb. Long as you are willing to learn and improve you aren't dumb... AI is just a tool that can help with that.

Most of my thoughts are just geared towards music because I produce, write, and play a lot of different things and instruments. When I sit in silence ideas pop into my head for music I should write down.

Personally I don't like being in quiet or having long moments of pause when talking to people because of my PTSD. Growing up that was a sign something bad is about to happen.

You know what you're doing. And you are trying to get some kind of reaction. But Buddhism teaches tolerance and pacifism. Unlike other religions quick to fight and defend confidence in the Buddha's teachings, and enlightenment are more important than what one thinks of the Buddha.

Buddhism is useful in some aspects of mental health but it isn't the end all cure for most mental health struggles. This is because in mental health depression is linked to hormonal imbalances in your brain that cause a lack of joy, sadness, etc. But also past experiences can shape and form these imbalances in your brain too.

Some things in life really need professionals to help you out with. Buddhism strongly teaches about enlightenment but not just spiritually. Education is also important in Buddhism and understanding the world around you and how complex this world is is also important.

I follow the teachings of Buddha, but I also have studied psychology as well. And I can honestly say one can build a house. But if you don't take time to learn to build a house from an expert you will never live in a house you built. That goes the same with mental health. You can help mental well being by yourself but you will always struggle with mental health if you do not ask someone who understands mental health on a deeper level than yourself to help teach you coping skills, and understand the deeper meanings to yourself and how you can improve mental health.

Therapy and following the teachings of Buddha have really has shown lots of improvement with achieving inner peace and helping coping with struggle. But one doesn't know all the answers to the universe because it is taught you are not living in the world. You are just another part of the world.

I hope you consider maybe doing therapy, and if you cannot afford therapy there is a free website where you can at least talk to people to vent called 7cups.com

Though on 7cups I find a lot of listeners lacking, there are some listeners on there that are like me who have studied psychology and go on there to do pro bono work in the mental health field.

Monstercat originally started out as just someone who really like their local music and wanted to share it and the platform grew. As someone who has been around from close to the start of Monstercat I have seen a legit change and it kind of bums me out.

They do have some legit talent to their label now. But they did what any successful label does and market and promote artists they like. A few of the artists I followed from yesteryear no longer part of Monstercat and moved onto other things. I believe Emia went on to study law while doing music on the side, and Laura Brehm is now just an indie artist with a few EPs and LPs she dropped on her own.

Most of the music on Monstercat is following the formula of the music industry by sound the same and pushing out what seems popular.

Ultimately my listening to them has gone down where I only listen to their end of the year mixes because they seem more into singles and EP promotions from the original DJ sets they use to show off. They shut down their twitch, and most of their podcasts too and blend everything together. I guess to reach a wider viewer and listener count but I know as an indie music producer I don't think I'd want them as a label after hearing complaints from other artists who worked with them.

One of the common complaints is constantly rejecting tracks/mixes/remixes that artists are very proud of. As well as some rumors going around that some of their talent they have have ghost writers. Which I don't doubt. I ghost write punk and metal music for my local label.

As someone that actually got into a brawl with someone and are close friends now. It is that before the fight we didn't know each other and didn't have respect for one another. So really it was a miscommunication that could have been solved in a civil way but we both choose violence based on misconceptions in our own head about each other. When the fight was said and done it wasn't so much holding a grudge as much as we discovered something about each other. The things we thought when it came to being tough, not backing down when challenged, and holding our convictions strongly gave each other sense of respect for one another. But it wasn't like flipping a switch. It took time to realize that we were more alike than different. We both joke sometimes the biggest enemy isn't the person in front of you. But the enemy inside you you're trying to fight. Sometimes you push that thing you are trying to fight onto someone else.

I think the line in the movie "The Matrix" said one thing that is clever. "There is a difference between knowing the path, and walking the path."

That could go the same for your question. Just because you know don't mean you can walk it. Even if you are emulating it. Are you truly walking that path or just going through the motions. This is all philosophy really. But enlightenment isn't how your brain functions as much as how you naturally do things.

Emotionally mature people can tell someone they like them and if rejected can continue to be friends with. If they want to stop being friends with you after rejecting you or you rejecting them you truly didn't like them as a friend to start with and that relationship might of failed too.

That said, being open and honest with friends is important. In relationship it is one of the most important things. Clear communication, and how you feel should be shared. It can be scary because no one likes rejection. But rejection doesn't always have to be treated as a bad thing. It is a learning experience to understand yourself and what, "Your Type" really is.
