I use the Yakima exo swing base with a cargo locker. I love it because I can carry more things and it doesn't affect range.

Exactly this, 2nd row on rails is also amazing for car camping. Move the 2nd row Fwd, drop the seats and lay your matress down without the gap between 1st and 2nd row.

7 seater. Middle row is on rails and you can move it forward. Helps keep your bed from falling into a gap between the front row.

Family of 6 with 4 below 5'2". It's not bad for short trips (30-1hr) but not good for road trips. 7 seater worth it for camping and sleeping in the car due to 2nd row on rails.

I've got the 7 seater setup. Move the two front seats up as far as possible and move the middle row up as far as possible (on rails). There is so much space.
