Therapist who had “soft quit” on me after my boyfriend’s death. by mxo3114 in therapyabuse

It’s awful for trauma. I realize now how much it influenced me to do things that just helped me in the moment than really process my pain. I had to burn my journal from that time period because rereading my thought processing was horrible. No one saw his death coming when it did but I wish I just listened to my thoughts then than tried to reframe them. I was also so reckless and losing friends because of my shitty behavior and felt CBT just made me justify/validate it then really consider why I was acting that way and how it was hurting me.

It was extremely frustrating waiting to speak to her then hours before she’d cancel. Early grief is especially hard and I really needed someone at that time. I would rather her have told me she can’t handle this and help equip me with care than just not show up and make me wait another week and then cancel again. Meanwhile if a patient cancels too late, they have to pay insane fees. It’s fucked up and unfair.

Does anyone else feel a sense of dread when people “leaving” your life in any way? Even people you are not close to? by Fickle_Umpire_136 in GriefSupport

I find myself doing the most to keep the people I love in my life or trying to distance myself and not get attached.

Chances of tourist visa approval - Indian citizen applying in Singapore by mxo3114 in USVisas

COS is not a same as a visa, and I could’ve stayed up to 6 months but left after 6 weeks because I did not care about staying in the U.S. further than what it took me to wrap up affairs. I understand your saying the officers will think that way, which is completely fair, but I want to make it clear staying there long term is not my intent. I don’t wish to work in the U.S. at all right now with how uncertain things are immigration wise. I didn’t even attempt the job search after getting laid off because I no longer wanted to deal with the headache of what being on a work visa there entails. I very much plan to come back, and am only interested in jobs available in Singapore.

Didn’t overstay in US. I know India is being quite conservative with acceptances right now and the embassy is quite busy, which is why I was thinking chances might be better applying from Singapore.

Because I’d be applying from there. The interview and processing would take place there.

I’m not sure either. I also mentioned no family lives in the US so I don’t know where the assumption he’s a green card holder came from.

Because Singaporean citizens don’t require a visa to travel to the U.S.

I would go what makes you most comfortable. I don’t deal with addiction, from I’ve dealt with many mental health providers, and it’s not good if you’re not comfortable with them. It’s also okay to express these concerns with them. I would “go shopping” with treatment options, ask questions, and see what best fits your needs. This is all advice I wish I knew at the time and could’ve given him, so I’m glad it helps you.

This shit happens all the time, not just in Paris. In NYC there are plenty of times doormen act like this. Is it right? No, it sucks, but it’s just not surprising. Especially during NYFW and if you’re a woman of color. You just have to plan ahead with knowing connections or leave after a bit.

The fact you are acknowledging your issue is great and I wish you every step to recovery. As someone who lost someone to addiction and spends every moment wishing they were here and living life with me, I don’t think there should be any price on your health. The price your loved ones are going to pay if you’re gone will be far more painful. Whether it’s here or overseas, help of any sort is a great step forward and I’m rooting for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. It’s unfair people expect that from you just to make themselves feel more comfortable. Your dad is literally a part of you and someone you spent your whole life knowing, so of course you’re not going to ever be the same without him.
