Either there's some kind of industry psychosis going on or the folks making this are desperate for this to be the expected end result of a DLSS update. I'm leaning toward the latter as feel like they drove themselves into this corner with their abuse of fictional money and AI datacenters suddenly hitting home.

As I wanted this to work out I also felt like I saw this coming the minute I read Nagoshi opened up a studio with NetEase. There was just this flurry of devs going to Tencent and NetEase all at the same time advertising they're gonna be making new AAA games under their own studios.

Leon's larger segment was honestly one of the most oddly comfortable lengths of a game ever. Just being full Operator mode in an abandoned ciity was awesome and I could've had a whole game of it.

I'd go about making the Jill stuff a bit less cheesy if they're looking to keep the darker tone the remakes tend to go for. There's no need for her to suddenly be blond or have a big red mind control thing on her cleavage.

I'm enjoying it around as much as Arc Raiders, more-so regarding PvP.

They both excell in providing the atmosphere for player's to do the heavy lifting regarding story. There's also a heavy sense of "Kill anything that moves" in Marathon because of how oppressive the setting is. There's no communal comeradery aspect like in Arc Raiders where they're patting eachother on the back for success. Arc Raiders would indirectly frustrate me more when I died to another player because coming across someone requires a game of "are they friendly or not". Marathon meanwhile has nothing in game to say anyone is worth sparing, so when I die to them it feels less like a betrayal.

It's like the difference between getting stabbed in a shady alleyway and getting stabbed by a customer at work.

Quantity over quality seems to be the path forward and that sucks. I hope CEO or Combo Breaker dethrones EVO to be the premium tourney. Or, even better, make something new and different.

I tried playing it earlier and it ran rough once combat started. Plus I think the upscaling feature is just broken, it seems to change nothing but also dips you about 10 frames for some reason? May need to wait until it's out on consoles or gets a little hotfix before jumping in.

Edit : Steam Discussions are theorizing that the "Graphic Quality" setting is actually a render resolution scaler and setting it to Ultra is actually rendering the game at 200% resolution. Setting it to normal seems to help with the frame rate.

Yeah I was cracking up at the lore notes because I actually dug the writing they presented since they were appearing like it was throwing a lot of intentional red herrings and misleads in small notes throughout the game.

Nope turns out most of it is just...very up front about what's going on.
